I was just happy to recoup some of the money it cost me. Still took a bath on it at the end of the day but I no longer loved the car and was no longer enjoying it. Quite the opposite, I was ready to drive it out into a field and torch it. What a terd that car was.

Engine back in car with new master links/clips. Thanks Charles and Jake!

Drove 70 miles. Everything is good.and disaster averted

Btw, found out the emission readiness is still all ready even after 1 month of disconnecting the battery. Nice.

Agree when it's not fun, there's really no reason to keep it. I'm still having a lot of fun with my 3.8 though. In fact, I seldom drive my stock 3.6 anymore since the 3.8 rebuild.

The manufacturer treated these chains like a BMW, they should have never used the E clips- the Mercedes style clip that we found should have always been used. Instead of correcting them, they just discontinued them. Luckily l bought a ton of them.
Glad you got the issue resolved.

Thanks Jake. Feeling pretty good about these Mecedes style clips. I may check them after 1k miles for extra peace of mind.

Good deal !!! Glad you're back going and dodged a major bullet !! Would have really sucked to had a major explosion over a .03 cent clip !!! Although I have seen similar, you would be surprised how many engine failures start with a failed 10 cent part.. "It's the little things that matter"....lol

Thanks! Yeah, I'm quite lucky. Would have been ironic too since the whole point of using the non-stock chains was to avoid chain failure.

I'm curious what the new Mercedes style clip looks like, if you happen to have a picture?
