Well done Tom.
@GarrettSR5 sorry if I scooped it, I figured you had passed since you posted the link.
Wheels have shipped. They were from his 38k mile 7/98 build Ocean Blue metallic coupe with the 408 option. I did offer to buy the car, but he said he wasn’t selling at the moment.
Since he was parting with the wheels, I asked about lights and managed to acquire both the amber headlights and tail lights as well as he had already swapped them out.
I’ll be able to bring my silver 5/98 aero kit back to factory amber spec, plus some really nice wheels.
Christmas definitely came early this year for me.

Shameless self promotion, but another 996 C4S is on Cars and Bids.... and hopefully it will pay for my new baby hauler and maybe some of my daughter's college fund too

Thanks! Yeah I knew listing it that the headlight covers would be a divisive issue. The good news is that like everything on the car, I modified it in such a way so that it goes back to stock very easy - I posted in the auction comments, but the headlight covers were installed over xpel PPF so they come off super easy.

early build MY99 on cars and bids. High miles and some hail damage, but worth a look.

Is it just me or is the build date sticker also missing on this one too?? A valid "early" build date would certainly help to offset that Carfax. Hmmm
And high miles like that will be harder and harder to avoid as time marches on. Expect 996 odometers to eventually age into irrelevance, just like previous vintage generations

The “B” option (for 996 #408 9” width) is not pictured. I would assume these are the “A” (993 10” wide) version until I saw evidence otherwise.
Not that $1,250 isn’t a decent price for the 993 version NB Hollow Spokes, and they will fit 996 C2. They just aren’t the 996 #408 option unless 9” width (“B” version) is marked.
And of course if these are authentic “B” 996 #408’s this is the steal of the new year!!

@bdronsick you were right to be skeptical. I don’t understand how it could be since they came from a 408 optioned 7/98 996, but both rears are indeed A versions.
Still a sweet deal for hollow spokes with good tires, and the lights look fantastic. The seller also added in the amber corner lights and a random other clear lens headlight.

Yup, par for the course
Like I said I've personally only seen one set of authentic 996 #408's for sale ever
Caveat emptor!

Well, you know what they say about assuming.

How does that make any sense though? The owner swears they are original to the car, and he replaced them.
Maybe like @islaTurbine said, it was not as precise as we would like to think on the assembly line in Stuttgart, and they ran out of B’s and had to use A’s, or someone grabbed from the wrong bin.
