Now proper timing of selling a rare car matters too. If many of them are on the market, it's a buyer's market then, not a sellers.

A regular Honda should be posted on Craigslist. Beat to crap Type R belongs on BaT.
I completely get that that car does belong on BaT. I don’t get why you list it there without even bothering to clean it up and take some decent photos.

Given the miles, it seems like he still did pretty well all things considered.

considering the economic environment, the miles and the condition the seller did quite well

The 996 Red Aero went for $37,000. Wow!

I'm starting to get hooked on watching BaT auctions.

Lots of nice cars in the 996 area at the moment. What do you think the next cabriolet will go for? I'd say it would exceed $20,000 but since the IMS bearing hasn't been swapped out, I think it will stay around $17-$18K mark.

I’ve toyed with putting mine on there any maybe moving onto a Panamera Turbo for the family. Not sure how it would fair though - most of the 996s that are on there are low mileage - mine is a 100k C4s. Anyone see what those go for? Mine at least has the IMS Solution so that would be taken care.

I totally thought it would go for top dollar, but my top dollar apparently isn't as high as others... don't mind that at all. A really nice car, for sure.

There's a lot of range on BAT. Color combo and mileage get all the money, but a 100k C4s in the right spec with all the needed preventative maintenance done could bring upper 20's if it's clean enough.

I disagree. A 100k mile 4S that is clean with good maintenance history and an LN IMSb installed will bring a minimum of $30k. If it is in great condition with desire able options and or color you’ll get $35k. So somewhere between $30-35k is what you should expect.

Given that your PM box is full I would bet you are getting a lot of response about your C4S. I would be interested in the specs and some pictures should you decide to sell.

Disagree all ya want, but I wasn't stating an opinion. I'm a bit of a BAT fanatic that also owns a well maintained C4s w/ 100k. As such, I've followed every C4s auction on BAT for the past few years and NEVER seen one w/ over 100k sell for over $30k regardless of spec/maintenance. A few examples from the past year:

The only one i recall that actually sold with over 100k on it was this 2003 w/ 111k sold for $25,251

2002 w/ 76k mi sold for $29k
2003 w/ 87k mi sold for $28k
2002 w/ 81k mi sold for just under $24k
2002 w/ 86kmi sold for $28.5k

Most of those listed above have varying levels of deferred maintenance needed and rather bland specs, which is why i said the right spec, color combo and maintenance could bring upper 20's. Such an example sold last December which imho is a really nice color combo, really nice specs, gobs of nice upgrades AND a replacement motor w/ roughly 50k mi on it, under 100k and it STILL didn't hit the $30k mark.

There are plenty of 996 C4s cars that have sold for more than $30k on BAT over the past few months, but all garage queens w/ low miles (and likely tons of maintenance needed from sitting unused). But I'm fine w/ that, when i was shopping, i found a car that had been driven regularly, maintained religiously and I've have trouble ownership as a result.
