Yeah we discussed this one a while back on this thread and I believe a member went to go look at it. If I recall, it was waiting on installation of new dash gauges and had some other issues as well. Pretty good deal if they sort it out, the dealership is right across the street from Concours Porsche.
Anybody notice how many of these Craigslist cars have the gray interior? I would've thought the black was more common. Small sample size, I know, but I'm still surprised.

Thoughts on the price on this one? 40K on the clock, only 2 previous owners.

Options so far:
1) 1999 base, 90k, black, no service history, no option tag, at dealer $15.5k
http://www.houstonchryslerdodgejeepr...241b564bff.htm
2) 2004 with some options (18s), 90k, IMS + clutch replaced at 80k, some service history, with option tag, at private, $21k
https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/6075787126.html
3) 1999, 90k, aero kit and lsd and M030, red, service history since new, IMS NOT replaced, $21k.
https://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/cto/6074849035.html
I only test drove #1 and fell in love with it. Reminds me of the S2000 in nimbleness, feels tight. Didn't test #2 and #3.
Going to check out the #2 this weekend for MotoGP weekend.

I've contacted the dealer about #1 but didn't drive to H town to see it. I hadn't seen #2 until now but it looks pretty solid. I was very interested in #3, and the owner is a stand up guy from what I can tell via contact with him.
However I think I found what I am looking for. On the PCA website I found a '99 030 996 with 83k with the IMS,RMS and clutch replaced at 73k. I have negotiated a price and am planning to fly to Denver to pick it up at the end of the month. If all works out, I will post some photos of my fortunate find and experience on the drive back to Dallas. At 83K with the 030 option and the maintenance concerns addressed, I think this is the car for me. The wife is on board too.

I like the PCA classified but I am too cheap to splurge on a membership.

I am very picky on my future 996 (beside clean title etc):
- Preferably Yellow or a silly color.
- Absolutely no red (otherwise I would have already bought #2!) nor silver
- Black interior, then gray, then pink, then tan.
- If not a 1999, I'd want IMS / RMS taken care of or factored in price.
- If low mileage IMS/RMS done regardless of the year.
- Option tag present.
I really like the fact that the 996 is among the lightest 911 since the 993.
I really liked the one at the dealer. Maybe I will let it simmer a few more days ....

Glad you found your 'the one'. Denver is nice this time of year, was just up there doing some spring skiing. Hope it works out well! Make sure you have the docs for the IMS work. Keep us posted with a new thread.

However, the 'absolutely no red' is bad mojo..

This one (X51, no sunroof, etc) posted in the RL classifieds looks pretty cool. IMHO, it's still too much money for something that's not a Turbo or GT3...
