How's the top end? The part that sticks out, does it look strange?

Not at all. I think it fits perfectly.

Yeah ... that lip needs to go ... just doesn't sit right at all.

Looks like I'll be doing some sanding and painting ... oh well, nothing I haven't had to do before.

You can't get it to sit further into the dash to be more flush?

I actually sent my original PCM1 to China so they could make this...
Here's mine, installed in my 986 Boxster.
Wait, they made this because you asked them to?

Maybe. My mounting isn't perfect. I basically cut up some plastic and wedged in above/below the radio to make it sit tight in the frame. v0v

Have you tried inserting a memory card? I pushed a micro SD card into the slot and it just disappeared. After removing the front of the unit (there's not much inside), I discovered what the problem was...

Moving in a slightly different direction.... For those that would like to keep the 1DIN format (if you want to run a GT3 console delete, for example), but still have a radio that doesn't look wildly out of place has modern bluetooth and digital music capabilities, the reborn Blaupunkt Frankfurt DAB is pretty cool.

I run a Sony carplay 2DIN in the 996 Turbo, but I just installed this on recently acquired 930, very happy with it other than it is arguably overpriced at about $500. Uses standard DIN wiring connectors for a super easy install, short chassis. Perhaps a bit more '90's in styling than 2000's for a 996 Turbo, but far more 'correct' looking than most modern aftermarket 1DIN head units. Nice build quality, seems to have decent audio quality as well.

Looks great.

I would have loved a single DIN option that included carplay.

Alas...

Does the Aliexpress one come with the stuff to relocate the climate controls, or you have to get that separately?
