The D chunk was collateral damage from the primary failure.

false.

If this doesn't happen to you and you can not think about it, the fear may be artificial.

If this does happen to you, the fear is not so artificial anymore.

As I said in another thread, if you are part of the X% of people who experience a failure, it doesn't matter much that the remaining XX% of people haven't, does it?

Really, the IMS situation comes down to risk tolerance. Do your due diligence and weigh the risks against your own particular risk aversion. If you are concerned, put in a new bearing. If not, realize you may take a chance and be happy about it.

As previously mentioned, I made an error in stating "artificial" when I should've said "artificially inflated".

I do agree with you 100% in the above statement. It is neither I or anyone else to make a determination on what one should or should not do. I've always maintained that it is a personal decision depending on one's comfort level.

The same can be the said about Colonoscopies, Prostate screening, eating brocolli, etc...

Jake,

Out of all the IMS bearings you have examined have you encountered any OEM bearing in which the seals were still intact, in that they still had original grease lubricant and not filled with oil? I suspect every one you have seen the seals were compromised but could you please verify?

Oh no way!... it's not over is it? . This thread was like a 70's soap opera. I need to know how it ends!

That last question was a good one. Have there been any IMS (primary) failures with the seals & grease in tact?

BTW, I just took advantage of Charles' 20% 2 day offer and picked up some BR30 & XP9 for $80 off!

Thanks for all you do guys. (LNE & JR) Having been a retailer in the "performance racing biz" I know all too well that dealing with the detractors is tough. My experience with your products has so far been very positive. Carry on!

Ok JR, Whats going on with the JG DT40 oil? Why is it now named "Driven"? Has the formula changed?

I need a new batch for my 6 month oil changed and noticed the new name. Hope this is still the same stuff you formulated as they have removed the "Flat 6" endorsement.

Its just new packaging.. Nothing changed at all. The Driven name has been around for a couple of years and was used as the brand ventured further and further from NASCAR, where people are familiar with the Joe Gibbs name.

Thats all.

I requested that it be removed. We are working more and more behind the scenes and we were getting to many calls/ emails about the oil and its characteristics, because my name was on the label.

I pulled the online store down and sold my aircooled inventory to LN so we can expand engine development and building. Anything that pulls us/ me away from development or engine completion is being eliminated. We are so slammed! No end in sight, either…

We developed both the DT40 and XP9 for our engine program, along with our intermediate break in oil. Over time these trickled down to the rest of the market and we further tested DT40 in other European engines to aid Driven with the implementation of the oil for other applications with similar engine technology employed (VVT/ Alusil/ Lokasil and etc).

I ordered a case off Amazon in late December and it was the old packaging still. $131 and free shipping.

Since when did you extend your OCI to 6 months? I'm a bit shocked...

Now its a bit over 6 months. The sad part is that its only about 400 miles on the oil.

Well, that explains your screen name. On many levels.
