Getting pretty frustrated here. The IMS Guardian does not come with any sealant, which is required for installation. The recommended sealant is Loctite 5900, which I couldn't find locally. I found a guy on Ebay selling it, but it came completely solidified--useless.
After waiting weeks to do this, I've got finally got a day free today to do the install. Is there any comparable sealant that's available at Pep Boys, AutoZone, etc.?

This was a tip from Doug. Napa permatex copper loctite 5920 works great. I've used it and it works well. Be sure to only apply a 1mm to 1.5mm wide bead.
Also if you have a Porsche dealership near you they carry the best stuff (drei bond). Not sure if they would have to special order it for you. P/N 00004320373 listed as "ORMD-WINDOW ADHESIVE". It is drei bond though...

Any sensor safe type RTV, Loctite, Permatex Ultra Black, Yamabond (Yamaha). Just go to the nearest auto parts store and pick up a tube. Fuel and oil resistant is best, brand is unimportant. Anything made for aluminum motors is fine.

It has the same working time, squeezes out the same, and cures to the same hardness. Haven't had any issues with leaks with the Permatex.

Go get the Permatex "The Right Stuff- Ultra Grey" that is in the caulking tube style. It is specifically designed for imports and such. I called Permatex's tech line and told them the Loctite equivalent and that's what they told me to use. Has been holding ever since.

All the local auto parts store had was this :
Should this be OK?
Also, what is the torque setting for the oil pan bolts? Should I use some type of threadlocker on those?

That doesn't look like a good choice at all...
Your product looks more like a silicon adhesive than gasket compound, and that sort of tube is going to make it very difficult to lay down the very thin bead you are looking for.
Permatex 'The Right Stuff' is commonly available at almost all auto parts stores and is much closer to the Porsche specified Loctite 5900 or Drei-bond than that stuff, though the Loctite and Drei-bond should be pretty easily available through either a Porsche or VW dealer.
Not getting excess sealant squeezed into the oil pan and having any minor amount that does get squeezed in be very tenacious and not break loose where it can get sucked into the oil intake seems to be much more important than the actual sealing of the surfaces. Most compounds probably will seal just fine...
Torque for the oil pan bolts is very light, 10Nm. Remember to tighten in cross pattern. Yes, threadlocker blue on the bolts.

Thanks for the advice. I did go to another store and found the Permatex. Everything went well and found very little debris in the pan. I'm sure this was the first time it had been removed on my '99 C2 with 88K miles. Sending oil off to Blackstone for an analysis. Will post results when received.
