Default 'sticky' gas pedal

I have a 2001 996 with tiptronic with @ 32k that has a 'sticky' gas pedal. It has been sitting for a while but not sure if I can somehow lube it so it will return to a smooth motion. Since it is a tip is still drives smoothly but if it were a stick it might make it jerky to drive it this way.

Any ideas would be appreciated - as I was quoted @ 300$ to replace the pedal assembly which seems to be overkill for this problem.

Is it just sticky when you initially press it at take off or is it always sticky?

If it is sticky just at take off, it could be the throttle body...

Take the assy out, disassemble it, clean it, lightly lube it, reassemble it and save $300.
Others have done it with success.

The link is very helpful except on a 99 cable driven, there is another cable attached to the bottom of the pedal. Thus, you can't pull the assemble out. Has anyone tried it on a cable driven?

Im not sure how they work. But I have this to offer.
My ford escape and wifes caravan both stuck at the top. So you couldnt apply smooth pressure to apply gas. It was a real pain in traffic. You would go to apply a little gas and you had to apply so much pressure that when it would unstick you would push the gas pedal 1/2 way down.

The way the pedal is designed on THOSE cars is the actual pedal pushed a rod, that rod then connected to the trottle cable. I greased the back of the pedal where the rod was contacting the pedal. Basically the rod couldnt slide on the pedal. After I greased it all was smooth as silk.

+1 on Fpb111 fix.
just remove clean and lube the pedal unit (single bolt)
did it on my 01 TIP cab.
guaranteed to improve pedal response.
