Since owning a 911, I've noticed something disturbing that I didn't get before...

1) Driving on the highway, I always get "challenged" by some punk in a Neon, Mustang, M3, etc...
2) People "speed up" when they see you trying to cross an intersection
3) People "speed up" when they see you trying to get into their lane
4) Yesterday, while sitting in the car getting ready for a meeting, I see this parking meter maid (male) go half a block straight to my car while not looking at the other cars, check my parking meter, and then proceed towards the front of my car to give me a ticket. I had to open the door to let him know I literally just parked there and haven't even gotten out of the car yet. He says, "Oh, sorry, I didn't see you in the car." since my car's windows were tinted.

So does this happen to all you other 911 owners? This is the only car I've owned where this "car owner hating" has been pretty blunt. Doesn't happen to my Lotus, M3's, Audi's, etc. My RED Boxster S, on the other hand, gets serious respect. People actually STOP to let me into their lane or stop to let me into the intersection, etc...(same with the Ferrari). What gives?

may be you want to post a picture of your car in its current state... it might look meaner than mine ... as I don't have any problem so far.

Seriously, I'm thinking it IS the tint... But I had no choice in the matter since I bought the car used. If I could remove it without much fuss, I would.

 

I actually get respect when driving the 911, maybe it has something to do with having the 911 on the rear lid, maybe being a Cab with an old grey haired guy driving in a spirited manner too, LOL. On the other hand, when driving the wife's Boxster, every driver in a Bimmer, Audi, 4x4 lifted Diesel wants to race, cut in front of me, tailgate and every other rude driving practice imaginable. It's like I throw them into road rage. And I'm a very courteous driver who doesn't even use a cell phone when in the car. Must really **** them off that I'm driving a chicks car, huh?

 

People do that stuff with all performance automobiles from my experience. Maybe it's jealousy?

 

I get the occasional punk who wants to race - but that's it. Usually I get thumbs up or a nod. Most people seem to ignore it/me - and that's just fine.

I do get strange looks in the snow...

 

It actually does look meaner than mine. But from the inside.

 

Maybe your feeling guilty about being successful? Obama's plan is working... now get back to work and generate some more tax revenue slave! :P

 

We all get racers..... I seem to attract the same Mercedes C63 on the highway...

Plus people normally move out of the way when I come up from behind in the car.... I dunno there's all kinds out there.

 

The 911 has definitely brought alot of attention to itself in my town. People stare all the time.

I guess I'm lucky I live in an area with much nicer cars than mine I haven't felt the haters wrath, yet.
