All - wanted to first thank several of those who reached out. I've been in the middle of a home renovation and new business venture thus buying a car was probably too ambitious. To that end wanted to apologize to those I didn't promptly respond to and/or follow up with. I realize that wasn't the best start.
Mea culpas aside - I dove in head first and flew up to Seattle Monday and purchased my new to me 40th Jahre (#0482) from Audi Seattle. The car is on the higher mileage side (70k) but looked to have several good stewards and recent service history including AOS, Flywheel, Clutch, and IMS Solution (!). Sadly no luggage or hardback seats. It was a long day but I made the 500+ mile drive in just over 7 hours including a scenic drive through the Snoqualmie Pass.
Very happy to join the club and really actually surprised by this car. I generally despise dark gray/black interiors but it works on the 996. Similarly, never thought I'd like shiny wheels but here we are.
A few questions:
1) I seem to have some excess road noise especially from the rear - the car has newer Michelin's so thinking its not tire related but open to ideas? Is it just a product of the more sport oriented suspension?
2) I know the PSE wasn't a factory option - any way to confirm whether its on the car? Mine seems a bit rowdy for a stock setup.
3) While I favor stock look - is there a good alternative for the single DIN stereo - would like to have bluetooth streaming for podcasts/music. Open to adaptors that work with the CDR23. No PCM thankfully on this one.

Enjoy that car!

I get a fair amount of road noise on my 40AE at freeway speeds. Probably related to the tires plus the M030US suspension. I've only had the car just over a year so I have only had these specific tires.

WOW!!! Congrats!
Noticed the computer says 312 miles to fill up, with just over half a tank, wow, what kind of mileage were you getting when you took the pic?
Also noticed the brake wear and check engine light...are you on the original engine build?

PSE
For the genuine PSE you're right, but in this case the prior owner installed a different kind of exhaust mod (see my answer above). A lot of 40th owners over the years have modded their exhausts without going the PSE route (meaning genuine Porsche system with the console switch to turn it on/off). Some guys chose mods that are effectively always on. It's interesting that in Europe there are many more 40ths where the owners have had the authentic switchable PSE installed, meaning more than the USA. Anyway, here's a pic of what that switch looks like if anyone ever sees a car having one - this is on 911 40th Nr. 1024.

On the road I regularly get 450 miles to the tank. The check engine lite has been on for over 250,000 miles (oxy sensors) New brake pads, new water pump and I'm ready for a spring ride to FLA!

Can we talk about transmission oil for a minute? Last discussion in this thread was in 2012 and I wonder if there are new products or thoughts.
To the point: What transmission oil are you running? How many miles after you changed it did you feel any difference? Will you stay with your current fluid?
Thanks!

Lots of LSD trans fluid threads for 996 cars
Not as bad as a oil thread but still lots of opinions out there

I believe London has very strict noise level laws with heavy fines.
I have a new in the box 40th front wheel if someone is interested in buying $700.
