With the lower ride height it may reduce the amount of camber you can dial in. You have options: elongate the mounting holes in the strut towers, add camber plates, add GT3 control arms. Any one of them should allow more camber. Control arms alter caster too, bye.
Wonder why eBay versus BaT? Less work? More control of the reserve?
Hi All~ So I purchased No. 1226 from Steve here in Norcal I asked why not BaT and he said he need the cash quick and wanted to not incure any more costs associated with selling so Ebay was ticket- I worked out well for me I live close to the seller and as soon as I saw it come up for 29K I was at his house that next morning. This is my first Porsche and I am very lucky to get into such a great car. Took it to Werks in Monterey this weekend and had a great time.
@Longhood72 Great news - congrats! When you get a moment please shoot me an email so that I can update the Registry with your correct info (40jahre911@gmail.com). By the way, I think you solved a mystery for me. One of our owners came across a posting by Full Octane Garage on FB showing one of our cars in Tennessee. I've attached one of the pics. I'm assuming it's yours but please confirm. Thanks! Ted
...one more thing for the rest of the group. I've made it easier to read and download the Registry car lists now. You can do it directly from the Registry website rather than having to access that Dropbox folder link that I was using. The folder is still there, and it still has the car lists and some other fun documents, but it's much easier to get them now straight from the website. Enjoy!
PS - if anyone has updates or corrections on the lists let me know. Remember that there are two lists: (1) with the cars whose limited edition numbers are known, and (2) with 40ths whose limited edition numbers are yet to be determined.
I acquired #1269 about 2 months ago (36K miles). Been a blast so far. I thoroughly enjoyed getting through this entire thread too. Thanks for all of the great suggestions, helpful contributions and fun banter, an incredible resource.
Couple of questions that I haven't seen posted here:
1. Has anyone put a roof cargo carrier/basket on the top of their 40AE have any stylistic and functional endorsements? I've seen the @996roadtrip guy with the Yakima Off Grid, looks great on his black C4S but probably not on the AE. Was curious about the Thule Trail Cargo (well, because silver) but it looks a little big at 53 x 35.5 x 7 in. I have the Roof Transport System installed. It's nice to have the option to throw the bike or XC/backcountry skis on top but I won't have it on all the time just as when the activities call for it. As 996 owners we don't have a lot of the classic options that earlier 911 models had for cargo carriers/racks. I'm on the hunt.
2. I am also looking for a diagnostic tool & software to reset CEL error codes. I have a Mac and a lot of the software out there is for PC and I've heard a lot of mixed reviews that some software doesn't reset all of the codes. Any suggestions are appreciated.
3. I have a hairline crack in my front spoiler lower lip, on the spoiler, not the protective lip. For folks that have had to replace or repair the front spoiler, what type of damage am I looking at to replace? It doesn't bug me too much, and the black spoiler lip seems to have it held in place but it's really the only flaw on the car.
4. The moment I realized what a beast this thing was involved some country roads and blasting Black Sabbath "IRONMAN" at top volume. Sommeliers pair wine and food, there is no better song I've found paired in this silver machine.
