OK Mark, the only thing I would lose is that 8 track

Next "project" is a 2 post car lift. Hopefully, I have this by the time you finish up the Maser. Then you and I need to do some car shopping......

At least is it where it should be... not a hack job. I saw a pic of the streering wheel, when you take that cheap cover off, i hope it looks that cool.... There are some good pics on Google Images of these...

did they secure the crest with a t-strap?? You got your work cut out for you!! Must be fun!! I wish I had time to start something like that, but between work (or trying to get it in this economy) and renovating my house and having a baby within weeks..I think I am overloaded as it is....

Anyways keep us updated with images...she is going to be a beauty when ready!!

Ivangene, thanks for the kind words. I'm afraid to take the cover off the steering wheel because I know it is broken underneath. I found a place in the UK that can repair it... I don't want to know how much it will cost.

Bob, thanks. I was tempted to bag the mumified rat to show with the car when it is done. I just couldn't do it.

Joe, you and I think alike. The stereo has got to go. I will need to figure out what went there originally and get one. The modern Becker Mexico stereos look pretty cool in vintage cars. I dream of having a lift someday. I'm getting better at finding salvage bargains...let me know.

Nicolaas, congratulations on the new baby on the way. I had my brother anchor the trident with a zip tie because it was loose. The oval that goes around the trident is missing...I located and bought it off ebay a few months ago. I just need to get it chromed.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I will keep posting updates at it progresses.

Just make sure you save it for the Ford Maverick project you've been dreaming about!

Have fun Mark!

FLpaindoc, thanks for the link. I saw that one a while ago on ebay. It didn't meet it's reserve...now I see why. They are a little optomistic on their price.

Chris, thanks for the link to the stereo site.

Joe, thanks. I'll pass on the Maveric project, but it would look nice in a Pacer or Gremlin.

Hey Mark,

I was watching a show last night called "Chasing Classic Cars" on the HD channel. The show featured a shop (I think called F40 Motorsports) in CT which had just restored a Maser like yours. First, you should know that the car sold on ebay for $73K!. Second, there was numerous pics of the car - unfortunately the only thing I could make out from a quick shot of the dash was the radio has 2 *****.

Cheers

Mark,

The rat is awesome! You've got to keep him! He can keep you company while you work on the car and when your'e done you can mount him on th "oh ****" bar. Very retro chic.

Hi Mark,
I see your keeping busy. What an awesome car you have there. The exterior body and paint looks great. My brother has a great upholstery guy if you need one. Are you going to have it ready in time for the Concours at Serrano? Good luck with the project.

Het Joe, my dad watched that show and told me about it also. One of these days I need to upgrade to HD, so I can watch it also. Thanks for thinking of me.

Medtech, I took a few pictures of the little guy. I thought about keeping him, but wifey prevailed on that one...I think it was the petrified maggots that came with him.

Hi Don, I will definately get the upholstery shop information from you. My goal is to have the car done in time to compete in the preservation class of the Serrano show this year. Thanks.

Here is a link to my current progress on the Maserati. I'm really enjoying working on a car that was not previously burnt.

I think you made the right choice in going with the preservation instead of restoration. This will be a very nice and ORIGINAL car. True original cnnot be duplicated.
