I did that at F1 Boston a few years ago for my oldest son's bachelor party...I was the oldest in a group of 19.

Phil, sorry I have not posted any updates for a while. I have let other projects and issues get in the way of progress on the Maserati. I just received an email last night regarding the upcoming car show that I want to have it in....I need to get on the ball. No more excuses. I will post pictures and have some progress soon. Thanks for asking.

IT LIVES!!! After almost 30 years, I just got it started for the first time. I was unable to buy the parts necessary to rebuilt the original fuel pumps. I have read that they are very unreliable anyway, so I installed a Holley electric pump, with a filter going into the pump (to protect the pump from debris in the tank) and one going out of the pump. Here is a picture of the pump installed, not pretty, but it is functional. I will tuck the lines up where they belong, now that I know there are no leaks.
It sounded great...no unusual noises. They engine was very quiet, but the exhaust system is shot. The oil pressure looked great also.
This was a big step in the right direction.

I don't know if it'd work but I used to use it on my old off road gas cans... I would coat the interior with aircraft tank sealant so that the rusted areas would be coated and give a little more life to the gas cans as well as stopping bits from ending up in the filter.

Here is a blast from the past. This project only took me 5 years to complete. While my car was at a friends shop, a kid working in the shop accidentally sprayed a caustic chemical near the car. It destroyed the paint on the front of the car. I ended up doing a total restoration. Here is a link to the Ebay ad...http://www.ebay.com/itm/121276810526...84.m1555.l2649
My next project will be another Porsche. Two reputable shops and one expert in Italy tried to rebuild my transmission with no success. It ended up in Germany at the ZF factory. They were able to get it right. It was fun trying to find parts that even ZF did not have. The transmission alone cost me $16,000 to fix...ouch. This was an expensive adventure. I have missed hanging out on Rennlist. My posts here have been pretty infrequent. This was the reason.

Wow! Looks amazing Mark. It's good to see it finally done.

I don't think I would have the will power to survive the paint incident.

Thanks Wayne. The paint incident was a setback. Looking back, I am glad that I got to restore it. My wife and kids spent countless hours helping me. It was a great family bonding experience. The car is going to help pay for our retirement home.

Nice job!

Those are the kinds of cars that's worth all the trouble and hassles.

I see guys(myself included) dumping all sorts of coin on our 996's knowing it's a lost cause when it comes to resale. Lol.
