Guys,

This is Cary/Apex coffe to the extreme.
For all others, this was my first DE event.
I went from "WTF? on day one to slooooow-doooown on day 3).

The First Settler's Instructors were phenom!
The event was well run.
The weather was great.
The company was top notch!!!
Couldn't have asked for a better weekend and for a first DE, was amazing!

Some pics from me.

To SCR crew at VIR, FANTASTIC!!! What can I say, great weekend, great group of guys to race and be with. Dell, thanks for all your help with the little bits like tire pressures and the other bits of wisdom and advice. Too much power coming into Oak Tree, the ole power slide. Chalk that one up and move on. Bob, Scott, Manil, Martin, George, Jeff - great job all; looks like you guys really progressed over the 3 days. Look forward to having you join us in the Blue Man group. Charles, what can I say, your own pit crew! Impressive.
Sorry I will miss the WZ and the party on Saturday, family vacation to the OBX. See you guys in two weeks. Bob, Manil - I hope your last runs were productive and safe.
Enjoy the day of rest, I think we will all need it.
And Bob, next time it will be your turn for the King Room. rotation, guess i need to be careful with that term after this weekend and Jeff's stories.
We need more pictures!
Enjoyed being with you guys.

Default VIR to Wake Zone

As a testimonial to our loyalty to the Wake Zone, a few of us who missed Saturday morning coffee stopped by today (Monday) for a quick cup of java. I think Ken (928S4) may have been sighted by Mark on Saturday.

I hope everyone in our group will consider heading to the track with us for a group DE event sometime in the future. If you have any trepidation, you can rest assured that it's safer than you think - in many way, safer than being on the road. And I couldn't have hoped for a better group than the 8 people I was with:

- Dell (964 RSA - dedicated track car)
- Scott (white C4S)
- Rich (Grey 911 cab)
- Manil (Black C4S)
- Martin (Black C4S)
- George (Black 996 Cab)
- Charles (Blue 996)
- Jeff (Grey 996)
- Me (Black 996 Aero)

Shout out to Bruce (Red Cayman S) who visited us and had some track time on Saturday. Also, congratulations to George for getting his wife to ride with him during the parade laps on Saturday. I'm glad the entire family was there to see a little of what you experienced at DE. And, of course, it was great to see Dell's family there - I think seeing little Parker waving as you head off to the track with Dell is adorable. Aren't toddlers supposed to be frightened by the loud sound of a race car revving its engine?

We learned so much. The support and assistance we were able to provide each other was invaluable. This was my second DE, and it helped greatly to have everyone there to provide their perspective and compare notes. Thank you!

Special thank to Dell. Your help, encouragement, instruction, and sense of humor (and Propel bottled water) are invaluable. You were among the first 2 people I met when we started getting together over a year ago, and I'm gratefull that you keep coming back. I can't thank you enough for what you do for everyone. Also, riding with you in your car on the track is incredible.

We'll be back to the Wake Zone next weekend. See you there.

Bob

Rich - +1 re your review of the weekend.

You reminded me to mention that Jeff is hysterically funny. Sure he has great knowledge about these cars, and is ALWAYS willing to help. But, best of all he had me in stitches so many times this weekend. He is now obligated to come to DE with us every time - no negotiation on that condition.

Thanks Bob! I had as much fun off the track as on with you guys.

And I'll never forget Scott's "White Gloves Of Terror" in my rear view mirror!

Post DE update: The 996 has been thoroughly detailed and is ready for the quiet suburban life again.

This Saturday, I plan to be seated in my usual spot at the Wake Zone by 7:30. But, in light of the cookout we have scheduled in the afternoon, I'm not planning to drive around the Lake after the coffee.

I'll have video of my drive around VIR during the DE, and we'll log into YouTube for those who haven't seen George's video. We have a few entertaining tales to tell from last weekend.

Have a great rest of the week, and I'll see you on Saturday morning.

A Saturday without a Fun Run is like:

- a day without sunshine
- cake without milk
- a night with Heather Locklear and no nooky

There will be a Fun Run.

so....this weekend may have been the first time we have a chance to meet everyone!

HOWEVER, here's the problem: we are attending the Hurricane Region Winery tour, which we're meeting up with everyone at Camille’s Sidewalk Café in Brier Creek, 8411 Brier Creek Parkway. We need to be there by 8:30. mapquest puts it about 30 minutes from the Wake Zone. so basically we'd stop in, grab a cup of coffee, and leave - not very fun.

Plus, there is this little issue of getting Nadine up earlier than she needs to be. THAT will be a challenge.

So, looks like we will be in the area, just not at the Wake Zone. One of these days we'll make it.... (I think Charles still owes me a coffee )
