Quick note:
Won't be at WZ on Saturday. I'll be here instead:
https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg...upId=127095911
I do it every year to boost my generally abysmally low karma…

I may post almost live pics on the Splinter Cell site, as it is easy to submit directly from camera phone to that site. Small children should not be permitted to look, as me in Lycra is, well, horrifying...

I could also post the route sheet if you guys wanted to buzz a couple hundred cyclists on your AM drive... never mind...bad idea...

I was on track Saturday! Ok, so it was only paced laps, but it was better than nothing!

Jeff,

Nice try, but luckily I found the original, unretouched photo before you added yourself!

Bob, Dan,

Just join us atleast one time for coffee.
I just showed up one day last year and never regretted it.
I go as often as I can now.

These are a great bunch of guys.
I've done my first Autocross because of these guys.
I've signed up for my first DE because of these guys.
Enjoy the "spirited" drives around Jordon Lake after the coffee.
The only boulevard driving I do is in traffic.

... and yes, Dell is the only real racer among the group but the Splinter Cell thing is supposed to be fun, not a competative thing. So far, has been fun.

Oh, I'm just busting on the guys. I personally know a few of the SCR crew, and I hope nobody takes any of my jabs to heart. I would definitely come up for coffee if it wasn't 2.5 hours away, and just about all my Saturdays are taken up with other PCA or personal stuff.

Heck, I can't even make it to the Cars & coffee stuff that's happening once a month right up the street from me!

One day, I'll find a way...

That's what my 8th grade math teacher, Mrs. Brown, use to say! How did you know?

Default Transmission Fluid

Sorry I missed the coffee yesterday. I heard that Randy and Manil headed over to Dell's, where all three changed their transmission fluid.

Filled with envy, I called Dell from out of town to schedule time to do the same. Fortunately, he was available to do it today! So, I'm posting some photos from today's transmission fluid change. The fluid that came out of my transmission was dark grey - very different from the clear/golden fluid with which I replaced it.

Special thanks to Dell again for teaching me yet another way to maintain my Porsche AND save quite a bit of money. We're fortunate to have a professor in our group who never grows tired of teaching (or coffee).

I'm already looking forward to next Saturday.

Bob, did you feel any difference with the fluid change in shifting; should be smoother! Looking forward to doing mine; trans fluid has been in for about 6 yrs.

I believe there was a noticeable change in the feel and the sound of my transmission after the fluid change - very comparable to the smoothness I feel/hear after an engine oil change.

I shudder to think what would be in my transmission if I waited until 90K (per factory reco.) to change the transmission fluid.

Looking forward to the WZ tomorrow, but no worries on the 5AM thing. Its poker night, so even 7:30 will be a stretch.....

I know Dell has sworn off Rennlist for a while so I am safe saying this, but seeing the pictures of the trans fluid change makes me even more jealous of Dell's "Little Stuttgart" garage...

I stopped by Scott's after the Wake Zone this morning where Scott, Jeff, Peter removed the front bumper of my Porsche and cleaned out the oil coolers (I'll post pictures later). I'm convinced that it was the first time in its 10 years that this car has had its oil coolers cleaned. It's over 90 degrees outside today, so I'm confident that this will make a difference.

Thank you Scott, Jeff and Peter for working hard today. I couldn't have done it without you - just another reminder of why our Cary/Apex crew is an awesome group.

Next, on Tuesday, I visit Digital Chassis for 4-wheel alignment and some other work. Then, the First Settlers DE at VIR - my Porsche will be ready.

Bob
