No worries - you won't need it again in a pinch, since you'll be ordering extras next time.

Good to know, thanks for the tip. Not easy to find locally, even more so on a weekend when you really need it. The ATE web site _should_ list dealers, but I had no luck finding it there.

Of course, I could point out that the T-Hoff guys should put their business hours on their web site.........

They are usually too busy behind the counter to update the website. One of the employees still rebuilds VW air-cooled longblocks.

Also, European Performance might also carry the fluids you need.

One of the advantages for being self-employed is you can give yourself time off when you have a pretty afternoon like today.......Just got back from a run down our normal Saturday morning drive, ZZ Top at full blast, sunroof back and pedal to the metal...Man it's great to be alive!

Me bad!

I drove my company car to Mt. Airy and back...on crowded highways...while talking on the phone...

What the hell.

Come to think of it, I shouldn't complain. I came home yesterday in time to do what Charles did. I love my Porsche.

I have a short shifter kit to put in my 996. Anyone game to help me after this weeks coffee run?

I know...first timer asking for help. What a goof.

We'd enjoy meeting you - I hope you'll come by the Wake Zone on Saturday morning (even if it's rainy). I haven't put in a short shifter, but I'd like to see how it's done. I'm sure there will be someone there who knows exactly how it's done, based on experience.

What year/color is your 996? I'd love to see a photo - mostly b/c I'm at work and thinking about our Saturday Porsche meeting.

The SSK is very easy to do. The first time it takes about 1.75 to 2.0 hours. If you ever do it a second time, it would be 1 hour +/-. That is for the B&M SSK. However, if you have the OEM short shifter which is already installed in the black tower (base), your installation time will be 30 minutes less.

Just MAKE SURE you count or mark the threads where the shift cables connect to the shift cable ends BEFORE you remove the shift cables (this is covered in the B&M instructions). Test drive it before you put the rear center console back on. That way if you need to make any adjustments, you can do it quickly and easily.

Unless my wife decides otherwise, I should be there. Actually since I am having a new suspension put on next week I think I will wait and do the SSK after that. Like to have one potential issue at a time.

My 996 is a 2004 Guards Red C2. Simple and understated. No big spoilers or such.

And since I am having new tire put on next week as well...it will be donut time if we can find somewhere safe to do it.

Default Ken's New Parking Spot

Ken - Since you weren't here, I brought a small reminder of you so we could still talk to you. A lot of guys have been opening the hood and saying that the engine is on the wrong side of the car.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'....
