Default MAY 17th - Charlotte Fun Run

Just re-set the date to May 17th!!! Fun Run ON.

So after getting some good intel from some in-the-know locals I think we have a good route planned for a local fun run! Will not post the route publicly but total time from roughly center of Charlotte to furthest extent of the run would be around 2 hours. Plan is to gather at a TBD coffee house in the morning, take a nice leisurely cruise to our destination, grab some food, then continue back the toward Charlotte or people can split off and do whatever they like!

If you want to join up on the run, just let me know via this thread and I will PM everyone the meet point and general direction we are heading with specific directions printed out on the day of the run. We will not be practicing for the next club race on this run so please leave that expectation at home - you should feel comfortable bringing your kid, spouse, workmate, whatever without worrying about the guy in front of you getting sideways through that long sweeper...

Anything over 15-20 cars gets a little too unwieldy so will cap it to 20 participants for now. Will also be good to have some radios to keep the back and front in communicaton with each other.

Date -Update - May 17th.

Well that is all I can think of at the moment! Let's hear about the two items above and get ready for the new driving season.

I'm interested depending on the date. I know now that the 15th and 22d are out for me.

Great! Our destination in Blowing Rock with some supposedly great roads in between. I am going to scope the suggested route this weekend

I would if I could - it's my daughter's 2nd bday party that day. The drive from CLT to Blowing Rock is a great one - and I haven't done that drive in the 911 yet. If you do another date, I'm in.

I'm interested. I haven't done anything fun with the car since moving to Charlotte last year, so it would be great to meet some people and go out on a fun drive. We used to do "BBQ Runs" all the time where I lived before (Raleigh).

I'd also vote for the route to include Hwy 221 between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mtn, if possible. That road is awesome. But anything that direction will be fun to drive.

Hey guys welcome! Will not divulge meet location or route online but will provide directions and meet point when we get close to the date and to confirmed participants. No need to provide unwanted interlopers with convenient trap spots - see my avatar

fpen - would not have cross posted if everyone was not welcome. Looks like a clean and tastefully moded cabrio. Not many of those around.

jpyles - nice looking car!
