I stopped at the Nissan dealer last week with my Pathfinder (my other car) for service and they had a GTR in the showroom. I must say it does look very nice, not saying I'd buy one, especially when the price is close to a 997, but it did look very nice.

I hate those kind of videos.........drag racing a Porsche? and testing an AWD against a RWD with a driver who slides around the track in one car and sticks it in another? (dont get me wrong, he is obviously a skilled driver) Plus, who cares who can beat who...the Porsche IS the standard benchmark... go ahead beat in one catagory, loose in another.
In the first few lines they said the Nissan was designed to beat the 911 Turbo, so why didnt they challange that car? Just a stupid video IMHO. But I like the drifts, cool looking!

No. I had a 1986 Pathfinder which DID rust. WHen I bought the 2001, that was my FIRST question. This one has not rusted at all. I think just about all the car companies are using some sort of Galvinizing these days.

PS: kind of fun to see the GTR in the two recent episodes of Top Gear. And yes, they did engage launch control.

My brother owns a GTR and I've had the opportunity of driving it a couple of times, unfortunately never on a track. Although I prefer the 911 styling over the GTR, its performance is unreal. Its straight line acceleration alone is worth the price of admission, and with all of its electronic aids, it's possible to drive this car extremely hard with little concern about losing control. It's the antithesis of a 993 I use to own, which just loved to do a 180. When I think about it however, I think most 993 owners take a great deal of pride in learning how to push their 993s hard without losing control.
Bottom line is that I would never buy one for myself, but I would never pass on the opportunity of driving one. Also, if you see one on the road, I wouldn't engage him in spirited driving, unless your car is highly modified.

I owned a G35 6mt for a few years. Not as fast as this car but plenty fast and, of ourse, very similar. The key thing to me is that it is a totally different car than a 911. In all facets it's just different. To me they are much less cars than a 911 or to quote dallasboats, above me, "this car is as dumb as the nsx and anyone who buys one is equally dumb." However, they have their place in society. I owned the Infiniti for 3 years, took it in for scheduled maintenance but never once had any problem with the car. It was mechanically perfect for the whole 50,000 miles I drove it. I bet if you read GTR/Z/G35 boards they would not talk about engine problems like Porsche boards do. However, if I had $80k to spend I would much rather buy a new 911 than a new GTR and it's not even close. To me, GTR, NSX, etc... are just not as exciting as a Porsche 911.
