the 996 and 993 both are posers. The 964 was the last real 911. Just look at the raised fenders and the all important atleast to 993 owners round headlights and closer to the 959.

as someone who admires 993's looks and the 996's modern safety features and performance capabilities, I will have to say this: the 993 Cabriolet is the weakest link in the 993 family. The covered soft top looks like an ant hill. The narrow body lacks the sinuous curves that make 993 so beautiful in the first place. Without the roof line, the thing really looks like a bathtub, and in this case it's not a compliment the way it was with the venerable 356.
As far as 993s go, unless you are a diehard convertible fan, the cabriolet is the least desirable, hands down. This is reflected in the usually lower sales price of the 993 cabriolets compared to all other 993s.
I am glad you enjoy your ride, and you should. But as far as collector's car....not quite.
The above is all my opinions of course. You can try to refute it, but I'm not going to change my mind, really, on preferences.
