OK I have posted vids (good size vids so give it time - sucks if you have dial-up)

Please excuse my amateur video with audio, I am using a Canon camera and it has been very windy out my way for the last few days.

Here is the Pre 3.6L video:

From within the car with the windows down and the 'Death Metal' music on mute, I can definately tell the difference. I believe it will change even more as I drive the car as the mufflers had very few miles on them. Oh Chuck, tunnels are definately a great place to hear them roar

So for $300 ($100 for the mufflers, $50 for shipping them, $150 for the mod, and 2 cases of Coors - for my cousin-in-law) it was a well worth investment. Now my car sounds as good as it looks

Good example of the difference in sound. Inside the cabin it's subtle until you hit the accelarator. Outside you can definately tell the difference. I heard my car being driven away by someone else and it sounds NICE!! Made me a proud daddy to hear her roar like that.

Steven: All I have to say is .....FINALLY!!.....I see Darin did his usualy pristine welding job...and now when we get together on the 22nd we can compare. I think you'll find that as time goes by, the sound actually gets a bit deeper and more robust....and of course; more satisfying.

So...for all you guys out there who are going thru what Steven did at the start....should I...shouldn't I...well maybe...but how is it going to sound.....here's another example of a totally satisfied customer for a mod that cost under $300 but will bring a $1000 worth of satisfaction. We can all thank that mod pimp Gota911 who hawked this mod way back when.

Not yet, need to sell a couple more things on eBay to finance that upgrade. I will keep you posted on it though.

For the sheer hell of it, I did this modification to my 997 S mufflers

- Bigger bark on start up
- Closer to a 993 exhaust note when cold
- Barks at quick throttle inputs
- Only minimally louder for normal driving
- At high RPM it now has a Carrera Cup Car like wail to it

.

Nice and thanks for sharing. So it sounds like now the 997 people can do this mod.

what I forgot to say is......
the muffler mod is not as loud as the PSE I have on our other 997S

Silly question: is the PSE on the 996's active ?
ie: the butterflies open and close through the rev range ?

They do on the 997
I disabled the electronic activation ..... PHOAR ...LOUD>>>LOUD>>>LOUD

Yes they are. However the mid-range "quiet mode" on factory installed 996 PSe can be eliminated by cutting a diode in a control module. Similar to unplugging your red/orange plug in the engine compartment.
