I’m about to do an oil change on my 2002 996 C2, the car is currently running on Mobil 1. I’m going to be using Driven DT40.

I’m UK based, the car won’t be used in sub-zero temps, but use during Autumn and Spring can see temps down to 6-8 degrees C, whilst Summer can occasionally see peak temps up to 35 degrees C.
Should I use 5W-40, 5W-50, 15W-50 grade ?

DT40 only comes as 5w-40. I've been very happy with FR50 which is the 5w-50 variant. My car seems to like that oil weight.

You can also take a look at DI40 and DI50. DI40 came highly recomended by Lake to use for street and track as a replacement for Millers Nano 5w40 that I have run forever. I haven't researched DI50 for our engines as of yet but it may be an option.

For cold start, a 5w40 is good to -35C (-22F). For most street cars, a 5w40 is what I would recommend.

Good Lord.

liqui Molly synthoil premium 5w-40 with lifter and ms02 additive and call it a day (additive every 60k).

ran dt40 for ~15k miles and did nothing but cause chattery cold startups. For $10 cheaper a quart I went back to - in my opinion - the better option (above).

I thought you said you didn’t like how it tastes?

All DI40 did for me in ~50K miles was make my fuel dilution ridiculously low, prevent LSPI, make my wear metals insignificant, create less volatility to keep my valves clean, have the best VI profile of any oil I have ever seen, etc. Plus my car drives faster, smoother, and stays cleaner with it (that is just a joke). "Chattery cold startups" is not how you measure an oil.......

I'm ready to jump ship from LM Leichlauf Hi Tec to Driven DI40 in my 2011 Carrera, 110,000mi. No problems, doesn't consume oil, I change it every 3500 mi or so adding MoS2.

Are there best practices in making the first change regarding the interaction of the residual LM with the DI40? Would I do a second fill within a shorter than normal service interval?
Also, on a now daily driver only (used to be track and street use) what is recommended by Driven for a reasonable change interval?

You can do the normal 6 month or 5,000 mile service interval, but just know the first UOA won't be as good as subsequent results. This almost always is the case when switching oils.

I'll just update everyone that we have an advance shipment of Driven Injector Defender coming. We'll be the only people with stock for some time as they are filling orders in the order received and we were first in line.

We should start to be able to ship orders in about a week or as soon as the shipment lands. Thanks for your patience guys!
