I'm staying with one set of tires and I have no need for race / track tires so I need a tire that will genuinely handle the occasional bad weather. I thought I would ask for opinions on everyone favorite all-season. Thanks for any input.

I have never run all seasons on my 996, but I am thinking about getting a set of the conti dws.
If you are looking for the two best All-Season tires, I would seriously look at these two. Either of the GT3 Michelins A/S 4 or Continental DWS 06 Plus
OP - Currently, DWS06+ gets great reviews. Conti must’ve improved the compound to get a better grip [intentional] on the competition, Michelin AS3+. Too bad for Michelin the AS4 isn’t getting a good reception from us AS3+ fans. My only knock against the previous Conti AS has been Pirelli levels of road noise after a few thousand miles. Today, the Mich AS3+ is an endangered species in 996 sizes. Current all season compounds from Conti and Michelin are very suitable for DD and weekend romps 24/7/365 without giving up much to high performance, lower TW summers.

Reason: Add 996
I've had DWS06's on a Z3 and a MiniCooper S and was very happy with both in terms of all-season ability and also handling. I don't yet need tires on my 996 or 981 Boxster S (Pilot Sports and Conti Extreme Sports, respectively) but will very likely go to DWS on my 996 since it's more of a casual driver. I have a couple of friends who have successfully use the DWS06 for an occasional HPDE with good experience.
I currently have the Michelin on my car but have always used the continental on all my other vehicles
I prefer the more forgiveness of the continental but either choice is great

The problem with All Season Tires is that they are a major compromise in both warm/dry weather and cold/wet weather. That is why I have a set of summer wheels and tires and winter wheels and tires for my C4.
I do have the DWS 60 plus on our VW CC and they are so so. With front wheel drive and much less power than the 996 in the snow the traction control on the VW is constantly going off.
