Default 99 996 C4- what brake calipers fit ?

I believe all 99 C4's came with brake calipers painted silver . At least that's what mine are . I want to switch to red . So one option is to paint my existing calipers . The other option is to buy OEM Porsche calipers that are already red . What model years would fit ? I will stay with stock size rotors .

Trying to nail down what models and years will fit . As an example will Boxster S calipers fit ? Will 996.2 fit ? Any others ? I know painting mine is the less expensive way to go . Just doing research at the moment . Thanks in advance .

Most competent Porsche tech can have your calipers rebuilt and powered coated
new calipers from Porsche are insanely expensive

Any year or version of a 996 will work. (Non gt or turbo)

All you need to do is rebuild the calipers and paint whatever color you want. The calipers are chunks of durable metal. They will last more than a lifetime thru many rebuilds. Mike is right, find a good indy if you can't do it yourself. I am going to have mine rebuilt for the 3rd time in 20 years.

If you want to get crazy, use your savings after you rebuild and paint your calipers, to get yourself a set of Girodisc floating hat rotors. They are bigger rotors than oem which are designed to fit with the oem calipers. You will fill up the wheels and look the business.

If I were to consider replacing mine I would look for clean used as new is not cost effective for me . It looks like the best way to achieve my goal is to paint what I already have . Appreciate the advice gentleman 👍

If you can send your calipers out for repair this place will refinish them for $500. I have not used them yet, I am planning to send my spare set to get redone.

My car is black . I am moving forward with a red accent theme . I am adding red mirrors with red graphics . I am doing that first . If I think red calipers would add to the look or tie it all together then that would be next . Hence my post I am thinking ahead .

Back in mid 2019 there was a guy locally who would remove Porsche calipers, rebuild/powdercoat for $800.
He was recommended often by other Porsche owners.
But he took 4 days, which was too long with me commuting.
I was DDing my 996 every weekday.
So my plan was to buy a used set of calipers off eBay, have him rebuild/powder coat them, and I'd swap them onto my car over the weekend.
I kept looking for a quality, non-overpriced set.
Then a set popped up that had been rebuilt and powder coated red and barely used for just $1000.
I jumped at them and installed them as soon as I received them.
I sold my old calipers on eBay for ~$800.

Unbelievable turn of events . Went to dinner tonight with a mechanic friend of mine down from up north . Got to talking and he has a set of red calipers off a Boxster S . He had a customer upgrade to some track calipers and the guy didn't want the old ones back . I can have them for free as they are just taking up space in his garage . Problem solved 😁

Even better. Get the girodisc floating hat system for oem calipers. You will look the business.
