Working on the 996 is not pure joy, but it’s close.

I enjoy working on my 99' C2 Cab 6sp and find it satisfying when things go well, however, when things go sideways......... I must confess I have engaged in some epic cussing sessions and once my head spun all the way around just like the little girl in "The Exorcist"! I'm lying, obviously, the cursing wasn't that epic. I find the engine compartment in particular a wonder of packaging engineering, but a real pain in the a** when wrenching. Owned the car now for 10 years and I still love it, wrenching on it, looking at it, watching people watch me drive it!

My oldest Sister and her Husband were both Journalist, He ended his career with 25 years as an Editor for New York Times and my Sister wrote articles for the Department of Agriculture and also Encyclopedia Britannica, although I can honestly say I'm positive I will enjoy reading your stories about your 996 experiences much more than anything they wrote...

Enjoyed the article. Glad to see the reference to the UAOS. New innovative solutions to old problems should be recognized and discussed. Hope you become a long term owner and continue to write about the 996. It is an exceptional car with a huge enthusiastic set of owners.

But in seriousness, the kit went on great, and I'm excited to see how it performs, considering most of my miles are hard, high-speed canyon miles on Angeles Crest Highway.

Haha, well if you decide you need yet more test mules for that spicy-looking sump setup, I'm your man.

Pfffft. 10 hours to install the UAOS? I hope that does not scare people. I've done the Ultimate Track Drain Back kit in under three hours and I make spreadsheets all day.
I have done it a few times though....
