On a positive note, you won’t have the random odometer reset, since you have the non-Most configuration.

Do you think Porsche will ever have an updated model of this unit for sale? Seems like there are a lot of bugs work out.

Again for Porsche to charge this much on a radio that ISNT superior in comparison of the aftermarket systems

The newer ones have some of the bugs fixed, like the random odometer reset. If you were an early adopter like me, Porsche could care less and their support is nonexistent.

If I knew there would be zero support, I wouldn’t have purchased, but instead gone with another less expensive option.

I've had the PCCM+ installed in a non-MOST 996 Turbo with Bose, and guess what? Same story: hiss and crackles appear ONLY when plugging the phone to the USB box. Without the phone plugged, sound is perfect over USB drive, DAB+, etc.

I must mention: as part of the installation, I have installed also one of those stepdown modules for reducing the input signal from the headunit, since even with a couple of clicks it was just too loud. I saw that recommendation here in Rennlist too.

So far, I lazily blamed that module for the noises. But it looks like I am not alone in this.

From the behaviour, it feels as though there is some sort of electrical loop created when connecting the phone, so I wonder whether installing a Carplay wireless module would do the trick? That way, the phone would be connected wirelessly, thus preventing the creation of an actual physical loop with the cable. Not sure it'd work, but perhaps that's an option?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing whether other people come up with a solution. It's not that is a deal killer, but it's indeed noticeable at low speeds. Also, worth mentioning: it does NOT always happen. It happens like 90% of the times that the phone is connected... but there's some 10% of the times where the sound is crystal clear. Go figure.
i don’t have a stepdown module currently so I’m also dealing with loud noise as soon as the PCCM is turned on. The crackles/digital noise are unbearable so currently my shop is working on a suitable stepdown solution. Which did you use? I figured this would also bring down the crackles to an acceptable level. Like you I get them 90% of the time, very odd.

Honestly I’m close to returning the whole PCCM unit and putting the original PCM1 back in with an aux adapter. So fed up with it. I usually just turn it off right away and listen to the engine.

People with 2002 Bose vehicles, there is an adapter that Suncoast provided to me that connects the black speaker connector (actually line level to the analog bose amp) to the yellow line level out on the PCCM+. I have had zero noise issues with this adapter. Did you guys omit this adapter?

FWIW,, I ran across a note in a forum about if you have a later 2003 with the most/bose, it shares the stereo with the Cayenne with Bose.
Some places sell parts to do the adaptions and list the Cayenne but not the 03 911 because they were a 1 year wonder on the stereo??
Or just cause more Cayenne owners upgrade to fancy audio? Who knows.

I see that Suncoast specifically asks whether you have a 2002 Bose system. I wonder what kind of adapter this is and why Porsche doesn’t include it itself.

Because adding it will cost them money on an expensive inferior piece

That’s exactly why. I’ll get a pic and PN this weekend when I have the dash out.

The MOST Cayenne's share the radio setup with 997's it is a PCM2.1. There is a PCCM+ for Cayenne's and 997's. The release version was incompatible with the Cayenne dash (!) and caused the Check Engine light to come on all the time. A local Cayenne owner had a local Porsche dealer (Porsche Westwood) install the PCCM+ in his Cayenne and this dealer worked with Porsche in Germany for seven weeks to fix the bugs in the PCCM+. So now 997 and Cayenne owners get a bug-free PCCM+ while us 996 guys are stuck with a hot mess.

As far as I know, there isn’t an update available.
