When 996s turn 25...
Will people be importing them under the 25 year rule in the USA ? Are there any cool Europe only options you could order there but not here ?
I figure Porsche has always been open with options and colors so there would be no need.

but remember your importing a 25 year old car... so you need to be thorough on the condition of what your getting

I believe so - whenever the switchover date was... I tried to order an x51 block but it was incompatible with my non-egas setup... so I was told by my tech...

Whether or not it was offered in 99, or only available in 2000-2001 I have no idea, but even if so , it only takes a swap of the throttle body and wire harness and reprogram to ROW tune to make it work on 99's C2's

I agree with @hardtailer I think the GT3 will be the most imported model under the 25 year exemption followed by the GT3RS a few years later.

The 3.4 X51 was for sure never offered in the US because it wouldn't pass US emissions,(camshaft profile) but was offered in ROW, in Japan it was simply called "Power Kit".

Do the European engines try to kill themselves too or is that just the US engines?

Don't forget also that RoW cars come with lower suspension settings than US ones, which all come with the Touring option (032:Touring suspension (higher suspension for America))
