Skip, I share the struggle reality. I am involved in "one off's", prototypes , etc. Everything is difficult from material, anodizing, machining on and on.
Let me know if there is any way I can assist.
Hang in there, Skip delivers. And this is well worth waiting for. I'm saving my pennies for one too.

Thank you so much Dave, I think we have everything sourced now, but I'll keep you in mind.
It's like taking a super long freight train across the Country, having to make sure you have all the cars located/lined-up then go hook-up to each one in the correct order before you start the locomotive slowly moving in the final direction..
Just need to add one more thing before closing up the box ( 997 return tubes) Serial # B/C 3002
Morning Porschetech3, Skip. Any chance you can confirm that I'm on your contact list for a UIDS for my 987.1 ? I did do your questionnaire but not remembering if there was any response on its receipt. Thanks.

I may have missed it, but with the increased capacity does the digital level read out and oil dip stick still remain accurate?
Yes, increasing the capacity by add more space to the "bottom" like what is done with UIDs or any deep sump does not effect the dipstick or dash accuracy.
However, if you are using the UAOS with Extreme Track Drain on a 996.2 with an engine after 662 11796 and using the 1/2qt shorter 996.1 "54" dipstick, the dash and dipstick will be off by 1/2 qt. (trust dipstick)

ok I’m confused a little bit as I have the UAOS with track drain on a 996.2 and the motor is after the number above… not sure which dipstick I have though. Any way to correct the 1/2 qt off ?
also any more/new updates on the UIDS being shipped.. Thanks Skip

So Justin, what happened was that Porsche realized one of the deficiencies of the Factory AOS in mid 2002 (overwhelming the AOS/Smoke bombs) and instead of correcting the AOS, they lowered the recommended oil fill from 9.3 qts to 8.75qts. (1/2qt) and installed a longer dipstick and revised the dash program.
The dipsticks are identified by the "ears" on the later dipstick and none on the 996.1 dipstick. Also the part number is "54" on the 996.1 and "55" on the 996.2 later ones. ( picture below)..
If you have the UAOS with high mileage/Extreme Track Duty Drain on the 996.2 with engine after 662 11796 it can handle the extra oil level of the 996.1 "54" dipstick.
I'm not positive whether PIWIS will program the cluster back and forth between "new and old" dipsticks as it's been a decade and a half since I have done them, and PIWIS has changed a lot since then, and back then we were only going from 54 old to 55 new designs, with UAOS w/XTDD we can go back to "54" dipstick and higher oil level.
The UIDS's are being shipped out as I get them from George. I have turned off new orders until I get caught up on the pre-orders. Old style dipstick 996.1 and 996.2 up to eng 662 11796 part #"54" new style dipstick 2002 996.2 FROM eng # 662 11796 part # "55"

so with an estimated 11.5 quarts if full and using track drain like I am where do you expect it show on the which dipstick vs digital?

OK, I'm not quite sure I understand your question exactly, but I'm assuming your combination of parts in this scenario are as follows.
996.2 with engine after 662 11796
2qt deep sump
996.1 "54" dipstick
996.2 with dash program after 662 11796
IF so, then with the 9.3qt dipstick and 2 qt sump, the oil fill will be 11.3 and will read full on the dipstick, at 11.5 qt will be slightly over full on the dipstick, the dash guage will read over-full.
As a point of reference, Zbomb was running about 12.5 qts on his 996.2 w/XTDD and 996.1 "54" dipstick, showing over-full but the UAOS was handling it well driven very hard on the track ..
Remember, it does have a warning devise on it..

sorry to be confusing skip let try and clarify buy asking it in stages
996.2 with engine after 662 11796 standard oil capacity should be 9.5 If i remember correctly...
using the UAOS with Track Drain you can run it full instead of .5 quart low so add .5 quart
using the UIDS add 1 qt
Total is 11 quarts?

correct?
It's still confusing due to your baseline data is off and I don't know your end goal (ie, to know how much oil to show exactly full on your stick, or to know how much oil over-full you can get waway with to help mitigate oil starvation).
The 996.2 with engine after 662 11796 standard oil capacity on oil filter change is 8.75qts. This will show full on the dipstick (55) and dash gauge ..It has been recomended by many many Track Rats (even Porsche) to run at 1/2qt "low" to keep from "Smoke Bombing"( that makes a factory sump down to 8.25qts). This is a major No No, in my book
Yes the UIDS adds 1 qt extra capacity, and the UAOS w/XTDD "can be ran "overfilled"
