The best lap I could muster first day running Palmer in the original counter-clockwise configuration, 1:56.1.

I had prepared that I would be re-learning the track to a large extent, I've run it 2X in the clockwise config - But it was like a whole new track.

Fastest lap was last full lap of the day - I'm happy with that, lot of room for improvement next time out (as always).

Nice driving.

I was interested in what you thought of the other direction. I'm still the other way and haven't done CW. Just looked and see that the 22nd is also CCW so I'll have more doing the same. Oh well.

I've always driven it in third with only a downshift into turn 4 and then upshift on the main straight. Will experiment next time with some more downshifts.

Would have like to been there to run with you, unfortunately I was out of town.

Hmmm... you’re going to be there on the 22nd... I’ve been debating on running that day.

Maybe I’ll pull the trigger.

Just an edit to add... my main though going away is... how the F am I not able to get myself to stay WOT down the not straight !!! In the other direction I’m WOT the whole time without thinking about it. This direction I’m out of WOT like a 1/4 way down the straight and just managing it, need to push more there.

Also, turn 8, the fast left handed before the sharp down hill right... lot of time to be had manning up there.

That's where I had my near-spin... it's more off camber than it looks.

Ohh i remembered when I was lifting and tapping the brakes going into it

At least a couple spins there over the course of the day as told by the tire marks growing in QTY.

I drive it the same way. My mind gets confused if I do to much shifting. I know that other places could be better served in 2nd, I'm just too lazy to make the shifts.

I'd love to join you both on the 22nd (of May?), I can't, I'm working that day.

That's nicely done. I'm sure you will see areas for improvement - my suggestion is to look at places where you are going relatively slowly. Those should be easiest to speed up. Emphasis on should.

The first few years the track was open, those white reflective things between the pit-out lane and the Turn 1 corner? The strips that flip down if you drive over them? Well, that was a jersey barrier wall separating the pit-out road from the track. Those reflective markers were installed about 3 years ago. It was even more exciting with the narrower chute. My instructor for the first time I was out there kept yelling at me to get closer to the jersey barriers. Scary, it was.

Edit - these are from the 2016 season. Apologies for the non-996 content, I didn;t have the 996 then. Notice the complete lack of tire walls. Pit out lane at Turn 1:

Turn 2:

Hard to believe it was more consequence filled than now, but I do.

If either of you guys have any feedback from my lap of where you think there’s low hanging fruit - I would love your thoughts.

They only have 28 signed up so far. 12 of those are intermediate. I would guess they are scrambling to get more.

I signed up before the price increase but that was only $5 less than this.
