I spent some time looking at other options last night, really liked the Recaro ProFi XL and noticed you can get some amazing leather coverings in pretty much anything color and stitch configuration you can think of. I’m looking at seats for next year so we’re still a way off.

My plan is to wash, iron remover, clay bar for prep and I want to give Koch Chemie 2 step process a try with their compound and polish. Heard great things and also low to no dusting. Great to hear the same about C4 and P4. I'm sure you'll be doing this but ceramic coat and then top with the wax? Not the other way around. With my process I'll just apply the ceramic coating and during washes I use the Turtle Wax Seal & Shine as a drying agent. That stuff is amazing and lasts way longer than Bead Maker, which I also like. It's sort of like protection on top of the protection - yeah I'm mad but clean cars drive better!
Really got most of the polishing done today and then watched some Chemical Guys vids regarding the carbon force. You’re 100% right about adding wax on top of the ceramic coating and they also recommend multiple layers of Carbon Force for better protection. I already use HydroSlick and use the ceramic wash. The hood was a little rough vs all the other panels so I used an orange pad and V32. It cleaned up the paint nicely, the last polish would be P4 and then the Ceramic Carbon Force. I’ll try two coats of Carbon Force and see what a coat of HydroSlick looks like.

Awesome job! Paint is looking primo already and will make it super easy to clean. It's cool too see how soap behaves on a coated surface. I did 2 coats on my wheels and now I get them 80% clean with just the pressure washer. Are you still getting the ducktail?

I’m almost done with the whole car and then I’ll be getting the Carbon Force done tomorrow. Think I’ll finally set up the QuickJack and get the wheel wells and fender liners cleaned up. Yup I ordered the Ducktail a week or so ago and also ordered the Dp-Motorsports carbon fiber cup lip as well.

Officially paid for the DP Lip yesterday so the clock starts now, they should it could take up to 12weeks which is fine. They have a weird way of checking out, you check out and then they’ll send you an invoice... then you pay via PayPal.

I’m getting some trouble codes after the header install but it only is an issue on cold start, after that it runs well. My Indie suggested getting O2 spacers and went with a set of Soul racing spacers provided by Flat6. Cage is getting painted Guards Red and should be available in a couple weeks... in the meantime I’m doing the brake upgrade, removing/replacing tints and removing the rear seats in preparation for the cage install. Also got a suede GT3 shift **** to go with the steering wheel and cage. Project is moving along nicely.

Car looks top notch! Shots 1, 2 and 6 are my favorite. You should also take some of the rear quarter panel side. Our cars look fantastic from that angle and your will show nicely with the wing.

Thank you and I was going to take more pics but the weather in the background moved in rather quickly... that area turns into a mud pit.

Thanks very much, can't wait to get the cage in and now I need to get the tints replaced. Going with 3M nano ceramic tints in a really really light shade.

Got the old tints replaced with 3M Nano Ceramic “tints”, I’m using the quotes because I opted for the clear model. The cage is prepped and will be getting painted this week.

The body shop sent me some pics of the cage as it cures. I opted for 84A/G1 on the color…. I freaking love it.

Just came across your build thread. Looks amazing! So many questions—I’m weeks behind the conversion.

What weight for wheel/tire (my three piece forged are currently mounted on tires) is normal or lightweight? Thinking of having mine dissembled, refinished and resealed but wondering if should just purchase new instead.

the leather sills from eBay: were they from a wreck or is there a company that retrims?

Airbox: mine of course is different (K&N and LA3 engine). I’m aware that the stock 996 has better flow than the aftermarket K&N but of course that’s not an option for me. My intake temperatures are higher than I’d like (Swapped Porsche guys say 20 degrees higher than ambient is normal). It appears that the stock has a gasketed connection to external air through a port on the deck lid. How does Porsche avoid rainwater getting into the airbox?

Lastly, update on the seats?

Great thread!

I'd love to see how the Brides work out. I have a savannah beige interior and my driver's seat is a little discolored and seems a tad frail.

Really would like to go with these. Please let me know any feedback if you go that route. I have a deep JDM past so they hit a sweet spot :P
