The job has been stressful as of late and next year will determine if I continue this type of work. January will be 16yrs and I’ll have 120 months deployed in that time. In the words of John Coffey… “I’m tired, Boss”.

Bro that’s humbling coming from you so thank you, your car is amazing. Think we’re almost done.

-RS front Bumper
-Cup rear
-RPM Technik Exhaust
-Race seat
-OEM brake refresh

Then she’s done, only upgrade would be the 4.1 Slakker and it’s not in the cards for me.

I can never remember the proper verbiage and have to look it up every time:

I appreciate it!

I know the bigger sump adds to the overall engine size and today was the first time I parked the car ***-in the garage. After swapping the wheels, I had to reposition the car to fit the VW. As I was coming out…the pan took a chunk of the flooring with it.

Ouch! Be glad the sump was the winner in that contest...

Yep, this is why on the UIDS I designed it with 1/2 inch more ground clearance than 2 qt center pick-up sumps ,with a Delrin bump stop on 911 models...

Ground clearance is critical on ALL 996's and even more so on lowered versions..

I doan no bout you guys, but I have to be able to get my floor jack under the car to do "stuff". Speed and DE stuff are OK, but going beyond (decreasing) reasonable height limits is just out of the question for me. Heck, some say their "Quick-Jacks" won't even fit under the car. What?, do you need F1 air-jacks installed to get the car up to do something (and OHHH, ADDED WEIGHT PENALTY..) (woe is us!) and so on. Maybe just weld a titanium loop hook to the roof and pull it up on a HD-hoist? Nonsense, (maybe.. it's only $$$) but that's the idea.

YMMV

I can get my 7k quickjacks under my car without issue. Even if I did have a clearance issue, my Airlift(when working) lifts my car about 2” up front. The car is currently at GT3 height.

Making four 1 foot long 2x12 wood blocks with a dove-tails to drive up on for lifting Porsche's is common practice in all shops that work on these...and with DIY'ers ...Some of these cars are always lower than can fit on lifts without the drive-on blocks...

Edit : if fact there is a Porsche made special tool part for these, but they cost ~ $1200 usd...lol ( I think they must be made of some Exotic Tropical hard-wood that is aged 100+ years )

The real problem with these lowered cars is for normal street driving and getting in/out of driveways , gas stations, and curbs...not so much on the Track where everything is built for them....

PS : try driving a Carrera GT on the street, you need a "spotter" going ahead of you to warn of dangers...lol

I have a set of those that have served me well for many years. I also have homemade 2x12 "pre-ramps" to get my long-nosed cars onto my regular ramps. Haven't needed them in a while, since I got the lift, but I still use the wheel blocks.

I need a spotter for the Caterham -- I've mangled TWO oil pans already!

How tall/large of a person could sit comfortably in the Caterham? Love the look and idea of cruising in one, but I'm 6'4" 230ish. Sat in a Cobra replica about 20 years ago. Knees pressed into the dash and face completely above the windshield nixed the idea of ever owning one of those.

They make a small one — the S3 like mine — and a larger one called the SV. Find one of those to try on. You should fit.
