The world’s greatest teacher is pain or financially responsible for something you damaged. In my haste to get the car on the ground and to the Indy… I didn’t check the passenger rear endlink length and it bent the sway bar.

My gf is convinced I did it on purpose to upgrade the sways and ended up with a set of Tarett GT sways that get here on Wednesday. In the meantime, I’m going to triple check everything so I don’t keep myself up at night.

Anyway, the Manthey shifter install was pretty straight forward. The whole assembly is machined and with the Function First Shift Right kit, all the parts in my shifter are aluminum now.

It’s back in the car and I’m waiting for an alignment clip because I can’t find any of the ones I had at the house. Connected the cables just to see what it would initially feel like, it made a tremendous difference but I’ll need to drive it to get a definitive impression.

Last thing for this update are the pads. The instructor who’s instructing me recommended using Ferodo DS2500s so I ordered a full set along with 3 Liters of Castrol SRF. Still aiming to have the car aligned and Tech inspected this weekend.

Finally rolled the car out of the garage for a termite inspection. The sways get here tomorrow but this is what she’ll look like.

Trying to get the sways in quickly(and safely) and at the shop by Friday or Saturday. The shifter is fantastic! The Function First shift right kit really removed the inintial slop and the Manthey removes the rest. The shift is direct, can’t wait to row through all the gears.

Rear sway bar can be swapped in 20 minutes and is the one that matters the most.

Here it is, final adjustments have been done and it’ll be at the shop tomorrow. I’m still hearing a clunk up front so I’m going to check the jam nut on the endlinks and the spring perch to make sure the spring is set correctly on the perch.

I bled the brakes and waited tooo long to complete but it’s done now. Used a Motive bleeder and it worked as advertised. Going to start doing this annually now that I’m using Castrol SRF.

The last thing was the shifter adjustment. The Manthey shifter is a solid upgrade. There is zero plastic parts in my shifter now other than plastic ends, the shifter has a more pronounced angle away from the driver.

Learned a lot and feel like I know the car a tad better.

She’s ready!! I didn’t mess anything up and Weissach Motorsports had the car aligned in a couple days. First impressions driving the car was extremely positive.

What’s better than installing a suspension and then hitting the track? Nothing.

She was an absolute monster! The initial suspension was damn near perfect, my instructor recommended 2 clicks firmer on the Ohlins up front. Brakes and tires were spectacular, felt great at speed. HMS is mostly left turns with some decent straights. Extremely happy and learned a lot.

Love it! But...what are those cars behind you with those ugly headlights. They look like eggs The 996 looks so good on the track and happy all the work put into the suspension has paid off.

Ha! I did get passed a couple times but mostly was doing the passing. My instructor told me that having the RE71s was damn near cheating with how the car was set up… and running in the Green group. It was really fun, I’ll probably be in blue group next time. Really looking forward to next year because I want to do Sebring.
