My main point was that people spend money on so many things that are really just meaningless in some ways.
This thread is about 996 prices going up. The more they increase in value, the more likely people will hold and drive them less, or even sell them (not drive them at all, as you cannot drive a car you don’t own). A more special item gets taken out on special occasion, otherwise it’s not special.
Collector car values snowball. The more valuable a classic car becomes, the more buyers there are who want them, and the less sellers are willing to let them go.
It only seems like “there are thousands bro” of desirable 996’s because they were so cheap for so long. The higher prices rise the “rarer” they will become.
There were tens of thousands more 997 made than 996. And likewise with 991 vs 997, & 992 vs 991.
When the BaT “glut” suddenly starts to runs dry everyone will be shocked but we’ve seen all of this before. Over and over again.

yeah I made this yesterday in the smoker. Barbecue sauce had old grand dad bourbon and a touch of scotch bonnet sauce. White rice and I slowly stewed chick peas, ham hocks with potatoes and carrots ( the starch will thicken it up).yes that was made right here in Texas, the ham hocks may have come from China. What about them cowboys and my Yankees. Chick peas stewed the way Puerto Ricans make beans. 2 lb pork tomahawk chop.

^^^ No, it’s because there were about 175,000 built in total. The prices will continue to rise, especially on the rarer ones. I think you’ll be able to pick up the lower optioned run of the mill/generic ones for a decent sum for at least a few more years. Of course there will always be those (owners) who argue their car is worth more because it has no options and that makes it a “more visceral” driving experience Uh yeah ok... it also makes it cheaper Next they’ll be saying the plastic interior is “better”/worth more because they didn’t have to kill any cows to make it...
Houston 996 would probably just buy his BBQ at Rudy’s. My neighbors who have tasted some of my creations where telling me to open a one off BBQ place. Too much work, I just do it to have fun, drink beer and make something other than generic BBQ.

your pictures have carbon buildup on the food from previos cooks thats gross from both sanitary and cooking perspective. Clean it. Rudy's it out of the loop, pass.

the greates ate súper seasoned. That old Oklahoma joe was given to me by the son and brother of a 20 year old neighbor that never came back from his Sunday Harley ride. I steel brush them every time. Anyway I just cleaned the whole grease traps, pans yesterday. If you have a Crystal stomach you shouldn’t be going out to eat. And don’t think about traveling Internationally.

Exactly. Like how you can't find a 964 manual coupe in half-decent condition under $75K anymore, but you can still take your pick of Cab-Tip 964's in the $30K's.
The 996 market is fragmenting into the collector market the same way; but with Mezgers on top.
