Default Question: OEM Taco, OEM Carrera or Ducktail?

Looking for a rear spoiler for my 2001 C2 coupe. Really wanted an OEM Aero (taco), but, hard to find for reasonable price. second option is OEM Carrera spoiler, but, these are pretty hard to find as well and maybe not as attractive/aggressive as the OEM Aero. Third option is a ducktail spoiler (non OEM) made by several different vendors. What would you do?

I've flipped back and forth on this same question. I personally think the Taco is a little over the top - It has grown on me somewhat, but not enough to put one on my car (if I wouldn't put it on my car I can't recommend you put it on yours...). I like the Carrera fixed spoiler, and I also like the Duck-tail for a truly "retro" look... All this being said, I also like the idea of the speed activated spoiler... See what I was talking about in the first sentence? At the end of the day it's all about what you like - make a choice and go for it!

I like the newer 996.2 aero rear wing. The taco doesn't work for me, but it's cool. I think the carrera wing is closer to the classic Porsche whale tail, but it really boils down to what you like and can afford.

I think ducktail would look good with your .2 side sills and the .1 f/r bumper covers. Getty makes highly regarded ducks. Other sources have some nice ones. But...go check out the Ruf spoiler. That just might be perfect for ya!

I have a 90s TechArt wing on mine. Never see them. I like it.

996.2 Aerokit II is my favorite, but I think it'd look out of place on a 996.1. I'd stick with period correct options like the factory Aerokit for 996.1 (or a high quality replica like the Getty). The ducktail just doesn't look right to me on anything newer than a mid-70's 911.

Also, don't forget to match front and rear aerodynamic aids. A wing without a front bumper is not recommended by Porsche.

I'm probably a little biased here but Taco all day. Its big, its curvy it pops when I RARELY see it on another car driving down on woodward etc. I did not like it at first but it grew on me quick and now all the others just don't stand out like the taco does and just looks to .. quiet on a Porsche. The curves on our cars and the GT3 ... to square.

Anything you go with will look great if you like it. Its a Porsche.. you cant make them look bad

Just my 2 cents... not worth 1/2 of 1

Someone took this photo of my spoiler at a Porsche Get ToGether and posted it in our local PCA Facebook group.
Pssst, it’s not OEM.

Was the Shaw Aero perfect fitment? I like... I had a taco/aero purchased last night from a guy from Lithuania. Paid his asking price, sent him $, and he returned it this morning saying he got a better offer! Totally bummed but will charge ahead and find something!
