It is suppose to seal back after it pops-off, but if there is dirt in it, it may not seal back.

You can test it by pouring rubbing alcohol in it while it upside down to see if it leaks.

You "can" just plug it off, 996.2 doesn't use a pop-off valve.

What is the purpose of this "accessory bracket"? There was nothing attached to mine. A friend with a 996 checked and his has nothing attached to it either.

Neither my intake or plenum tube were burt through so no need to replace or repair, but they are most deffinately melted. Im guessing a mechanic messed something up and was able the extingish it quickly. Maybe it was residual fuel? I dont think any of the previous owners worked on this car themselves based on the limited history i have. Sadly still waiting on parts so no progress on my uaos install.

I have a set of plenums if you are interested from a 3.4.

thx but mine r 100% functional and the melted spots cant be seen unless removed. If u want to give them to me for the price of shipping i would put them to use but fortunately i dont "need" them.

Skip...do you know of any indy in the West Palm Beach area that's doing this install?

Hi Mike, all the installs so far have been in the North East and out West. But any good Indy who can install an AOS can install the UAOS no problem, it's really Plug-N-Play/Bolt-On and not much more than a regular AOS install if you get the full kit with the re-worked AOS.

Asking an Indy to "seal the Atmospheric port" in a used AOS will probably raise the left eyebrow...lol..Best just to hand them the kit and say install this.

That procedure was meant to show "proof of concept in design" and for talented DIY'ers to save some bucks.

The DIY License program has ended for the UAOS. No new DIY Licenses will be issued.

The UAOS is still offered with or without a re-worked new AOS for now, but if asking an Indy or other professional to install, I suggest getting the new re-worked AOS also.

The Indy that did that install was in Maryland and had no issues at all and gave very good feedback..

Hey Skip,

I‘m slowly working on mine now in my spare time.
I was wondering about the plastic tube from the AOS to the throttle body.
Mine is covered, along with some hoses, in a sheath.

I can cut the tube to slide it out if possible, but I’m wondering if that is even necessary.
Can I just cut and remove the sheath and use wire ties or does the sheath provide some minimal heat protection and need to be kept

Tex - I can tell you that my set up has been held together with with wire ties for the last three years and about 3,000 track miles. I have not seen any issues.

Hi Bruce, yea they are bundled in an insulation. The insulation is to keep heat in rather than keep it out. The heat will keep water vapor from condensing into water. So keep just wrap it back on and tie strap it if possible, if it's too ragged don't worry about it, just tie strap the hoses back against the AOS tube, just will be a little more water in the Accumulator when you check/drain it, no big deal.

Hi PT
Is the pop off valve on the crank vent line going to Cyl 4-6? I've got my motor out and have oil misting on the crank case near there plus I've seen two types of vent line on design911 , there's one with a direct pipe entry into the crankcase instead of having the valve there, plus it's a lot cheaper, might do the swap if the pop off can be safely removed?
Thanks Noz

The tube connects to either elbow the same way it connects to the aos, same style connector. I dont know why but i went with the origional style for the 3.4 with the popet. It was about $20 more then the elbow. The elbow bolts to the head with a 10mm bolt.

Hi Noz, part #6 has the pop-off valve on it IF it's a 996.1 or early 2002, if it's a late 2002 or 996,2 it has a 2 bolt elbow with no pop-off valve.. Early models has 1 bolt, late has 2 bolts and cannot b

e retrofitted.
