68 mph on a local in-town hi way four lane. Speed limit is 45. This was the first drive after getting my car back from F6I and I thought I was doing the speed limit...NOPE! Have never had the car out of town, but did put it in 5th and 6th gears just to make sure they were actually there! If life ever returns to normal I will run it out on some runs as I now trust the engine will not hand grenade.

i reached abt 130 on VIR back straight, thats a leap of faith into the little left hand dip before the downshift too ...

funny, i dont drive more than 90 or so ever on the highway ... i guess the track does it for me.
That area is the point on the track for money shifts, I have been there when engines grenaded.
I am still in instructed group (yellow), my instructor two years ago, lost his brake lining on right front pad (Cayman "S"), coming into the the bus stop, had to take the straight away safety area, but did get it slowed enough to make it around carousel to flat area of Nascar course. The lining just delaminated from the backer plate, very expensive brake pads with only one HPDE on them. Image inserted for folks who have never been to WGI.

I love the carousel (turn 5). Just learning how to let the car rotate a little (street tires).
I had considered going to VIR last year, but it was a long three day event and a long drive (8.5 hours), I don't own a trailer, so I decided against it. I have watched a lot of video from there, it looks like you can really haul the mail on that straight.

There is a short freeway section here that is sort of a “road to nowhere” locally. I have hit a little over 100 on that a couple of times, indicated. Given the speedometer error, call it 95+. Sadly that is as fast as I have driven my 911. Took European delivery of my BMW 335i and after it was broken in hit the speed limiter for several miles (130 mph - all season tires) on the autobahn.

On different visits to Germany I have driving at top speed of the car for many miles on the autobahn between Erfurt and Berlin some years ago. Unfortunately I was in an Astra 1.4 and a BMW 318i so the top speed was probably only around 120 or so. Still fun.

Looking forward to doing a DE one day even though my cabrio is hardly a track car. A couple of guys in the PCA local club tell me that a 996 will hit 130 at Mid-Ohio without difficulty.

I've got a 335i too. I've never driven it fast enough to see if there is a speed limiter in mine. May try to test that sometime in the future when the "right" opportunity arises.

Was always hitting the speed limiters on my Prius (had 2 of them) at about 103 and my Chevy Bolt at about 93, which I found really annoying. LOL!

Did not realize that a Prius would go over 100 - Good to know as I have had a number of these as rental cars. Surprised the Bolt will go to 93 - how fast does the battery go down at that speed? Cool car - friend of mine has one and really likes it.

I ordered my 335i with 18” wheels and all season tires, so that combo comes with H rated tires (or todays equivalent) and a 130 mph speed limiter. If yours was ordered with summer tires and/or the 19” wheels I think there is no speed limiter. May have required the track package, not sure about that.

Many of the cars I've rented in Germany hit about 155 before the limiter kicks in. That was with the BMW 520D & 320D both turbo diesels. The Mercedes C200 and many other cars I rented were slower.

A friend of mine worked for BMW in Munich and now works for Audi in Ingolstadt. He said they generally have a 155 limit on the Eurospec cars. Obviously not sports cars, but most other cars.

My wife drives a 535XI and I don't think we have ever been much over 100, but damn does it get there quickly.

150 indicated. Was in 6th at 83-85, cruising home from work at around 2:30-3pm. I rounded a bend, no traffic, 1.5 mile strait, new Michelin AS3+ out back. I figured I'd pick up the pace. Steady pressure on the right pedal, nothing crazy. I looked down as I passed through 147, looked again at 150, and needed to ease off for a bend, into a short strait where troopers hang out, regularly.

I stopped driving the Bolt on the freeway because I couldn't keep my foot of of the accelerator and drained the battery too quickly. Used it just a a local street car and only put 8k miles on it after the 3yr lease expired in Feb. LOL!

My 335i came w/18" wheels w/the Sport pkg. So, it probably is speed limited but I don't recall EVER driving over 120 in any car. I usually cut it off by 110-115 but, if I come across the right conditions, I might just try to see if it's actually limited or not.
