Close out parts at RockAuto
I don't normally buy my P Car parts at RockAuto, but I do for the MB and other cars I get asked to work on.
Anyway they have a closeout parts section, buy selecting your car, then once your there, there is a little RSS feed box or HTML Box, which will sign you up for closeout parts,
I bought frunk strut for 6, but there is lot of other parts that people might want cheap, O2 Sensor, MAP Sensor, Serpentine Belts, etc.
Worth a look. Shipping is good priced also

your welcome
I see a lot of parts older 996 high mileage owners could use, Tie Rod ends, O2 sensor, Belts, etc.

Thanks for the reminder.
I order lots of parts from RockAuto, but it has been a while since I looked to see what they have on clearance.
Great prices on headlight bulbs, belts, and inner tie rods.
I just ordered a bunch of parts for about $70.

About a year ago I needed a new AC Compressor for my 2000 996. From the dealer is was about $1,800. I ordered one from Rock Auto and it was about $250. When it was delivered it was the exact same Denso unit, same part number, etc. and was an exact fit. Rock had other brands but I knew the OEM was a Denso so i ordered that one. Personally I don't think having the Porsche name on the box was worth an extra $1,500+, but maybe that is just me!:-)

If it doesn't come in a Porsche box, you'll be sorry!
When I bought my 996, I got a great deal mainly because the "struts" were making a creaking noise and no shop had been able to figure out what it was.
After reading about noises, I assumed it was a control arm making noise.
Porsche wanted $300+ for a control arm.
I got one from RockAuto for $65.
Now 10 months later the new control arm is still noise free.
Since I actually bought two, I have a spare one just in case, and it still cost less than half the Porsche price.
I just wish RockAuto carried more parts for the 996.
I buy lots of parts from RockAuto for my, and my customer's cars, and the coverage for the 996 is a bit lacking compared to most other cars.(Asian, Domestic, and German)

Good luck if they screw up your order and you have to ship it back to them. Look at the Yelp reviews they have, bought from them before but after a mix up with an order, Id rather go elsewhere.

I haven't had them screw up any of my orders, and I was probably averaging 5 or 6 shipments from them a month until April when I took a break due to health reasons.
I've sent back unused parts before (Extras that were purchased in case they were needed to complete the job) and unfortunately you have to ship them back from where they came.
So if you have a large order from 5 different warehouses, you have to ship multiple packages.
They will provide a prepaid shipping label(at your cost) but I've always found it cheaper to print my own and pay for the postage myself.
I have a tiny post office near my shop, so it's not a big hassle.
I try not to order extra parts, but sometimes unfortunately it happens.
If it is for a BMW, or VW (and recently Porsche) I will usually keep it on-hand.
Anything else usually gets returned.

RA has a rating system for the parts they sell, and show a little red heart next to those parts of a given description which have shown good reliability and few returns. This data point may be handy determining which of Brands X, Y, or Z is more reliable regardless of price.
