First Chapter: Golf
2nd: IS
3rd: HARD
4th: Cars much easier
End of story. I dedicated a good 20 years of playing basically all day, everyday, every chance I could. Got my amateur status back in 2005 and having fun again for the next 5 years. Had kids and started my business in 2010 and golf took a back seat. IF my body will let me it's time for a comback. My buddy tried for the senior tour, got provisional status but that's not my goal, but my goal is to play in the US Senior Open which many of my friends have played in. Lets GO!!
Yep. Easier to shave a second off a lap than it is to shave a stroke. But I enjoy both.
Finally bought a new set of Ping irons last year...., don't play any better though. All out of ideas at this point.
I went with Calloway last season, with a new Taylor Made driver. I had been playing with a 9.5 face on my earlier Taylor Made and the new one is a 12 degree face. The irons made a noticeable positive difference in my game. If I were playing in a league now I'd probably pay a shot or two better now. My buddy (5 handicap) claims the Calloways improve a well struck shot marginally, but they improve the result from a poorly struck shot substantially, which I found to be true. The 12 degree drive added about 20 yards to a well struck tee shot. I had been playing with the old clubs more than 20 years and now my game has finally joined the 21st century game of golf technology.
It's a hard game.
LOL…..LMFAO I’m from Staten Island where the movie is based those characters are real and present today as if time stood still especially at the Richmond county golf club
and yes there are many Porsche owners
While we're upgrading the suspensions (H&R sport springs and Bilsteins B8s all round) we found that the boots on the CV joints were shot and leaking grease. I'm thinking of removing the whole front transmission and converting the C4 to a C2. Any thoughts? Good idea or bad idea?
Last week I used my new QuickJack for the first time to fix my slacking ebrake. Pictures attached.
IMHO (and I am new to Porsche), keep the all wheel drive. Much more of an "any weather" car and, in stock form, maybe a better handling vehicle than it's C2 brother. I'm not able to do it, but if I could, I'd keep the C4 as is and pick up a C2 to keep it company.
Had a blast today. My friend and I took the cars to my mechanic. The mechanic looked at my friends new to him 993 and found a few issues. He fixed the CELs on my car changing back the O2 sensors. When we installed the fab speed x pipe we used the O2 sensors that came with the pipe but they were from a .2 996. We put back my O2 sensors and that fixed the issues, my sensors have 993 part numbers and they do look different. We also replaced the serpentine belt and installed the Carrera S 3.8 airbox, we also had Ribeyes and sausage for lunch. Life is good, a day of cars, good food, beers. What else can I asked for. A Millenium edition with 22 k miles. My friends 95 983. Ribeyes. Carrera S air box, vroom vroom.
Interesting that you say that because I have been wondering too. here are many diverging opinions on the subject. Some say that because it is a viscous system it only send very small amount of power to the front wheels (15% or so) and therefore is somewhat inefficient. Others say that it helps the car handle better by reducing over-steer. In any case, it is really easy to put it back on so I am not too worried.
I only had the car back for a couple of days and below are my first impressions after driving the it for about 50 miles (some highway/some back roads/some town). Remember that the car is now fitted with new B8s and H&R springs which obviously also changed its behavior.
-Steering is a more precise and not bouncy/shaky when hitting road imperfections (very likely due to new suspensions)
-It is a lot more sensitive to wind
-It is a LOT noisier inside the cabin. I need to look into that. Anyone having done it and has experienced the same thing, please chime in.
-I experienced a LOT more over-steering which really surprised me. I was going around a circle and gave some gas a bit early out of the corner (as I sometimes do to get a bit of fun out of the car) and for the first time in two years of ownership, the tail snapped which triggered the PSM.
I will update with more info especially once I've taken the car to the track and on AutoX events.
