Thanks to Jean for lending me an AX-22 to repeat a 60 to 130 on my Ruf Turbo R. I now realize I need to shift from 3-4 and then 4-5. The speedo is way off. When it reads 130, I'm really doing about 120.

60 to 130 = 9.1 seconds for Ruf Turbo R

Well done and respect for taking "the speedo accuracy test"

That is a solid real 500-520hp time for a 4WD stock weight 993tt - what was your 100-200kph time for comparison to others - The CTR2 was tested at 8s with its 520hp ?

Thanks TB993tt. See below for the same run, timed 62 to 124 mph (100 to 200 km/h). Time = 7.9 second.

7.9s 100-200kph is a great time for 4WD full weight.

There are not that many tests of ~500+hp tuned 993tts, the CTR2 520hp @ 8s dead, the PSI 540hp/711NM with 2 people on board is below - it managed 8.15s, Lotec's 600hp (more like 530) did it in 8.1s

Thanks for the info. I even had a full tank of gas and the spare tire on board. I weigh about 190 lbs. 100 octane is a noticeable difference over the normal US 91 (R+M)/2 we have.

I'll run a test on my CS for the record.

... Hey maybe my chronographs are temp dependent ;-)... but I have pretty consistent, almost a 1-2 second delta between a 50-55 F degree run and a 80-90 f degree run... anyone else have such a variance.... O where o where has my ax22 gone o where o where can she be....:-0.. just joking Jean...

Thanks for sharing the runs.. It will be interesting to see your CS as well! Please share it with us whn you have it.

What is amazing is that your car is a true sleeper I think, with an almost bolt-on 490HP package and it compares to a stage 4 EVOMS for instance with much more claimed HP..

It is interesting to note how wrong we are when we measure from a video and stop watch, I had the same reaction, I thought I shifted after 130mph, whereas in reality I don't, I have to put 5th before 130mph! And it makes a huge difference in times .

I might be a bit more conservative than TB993TT concerning the power calculations,, and this is due to the amazing shifts that you had, and I put it around what RUF claims, 490HP or so.. The difference anyway cannot be exactly calculated, I just extrapolated the overall difference in shifting time and recalculated.

I am really impressed about your car in particular, you seem to have a very strong engine. Congratulations and thanks for sharing again..

ED, the device is in California now for a few days and then it will be moving your way. I have never seen as low as 50 degree temps in my area so I would not know, but it is pretty simple to calculate the HP difference resulting from temperature increase. Interesting point BTW. The Cali and Florida boys are a bit disadvantaged (from a 60-130mph run perspective that is )

Thanks Jean for letting me borrow the AX-22. I should have the CS numbers this weekend. I've raced stage 4 EVOMS before and we're nearly identical, so the AX-22 is really a good machine for "racing on the web".

I was disappointed to find I had to shift to 5th to reach 130. That was such a surprise! All this time I thought I could do 60 to 130 with just one shift. Damn P-Speedo! We'll at least the high-reading speedo may have saved me a ticket or two.

Here's what I think may be the first AX-22 measurement for a Ferrari Challenge Stradale:

60 to 130 mph = 11.77 seconds
100 to 200 km/h = 10.26 seconds

Bill, those Ferrari numbers put into perspective just how fast these turbos are

Ed
The temperature thing is alive and well and most people just know anecdotally that the cars run faster in the cooler temps.
I was amazed when I saw some real data.

From RS's engine dyno on my first engine in 30degC heat ~86DegF my DIN engine power was 522hp at 5500rpm (this is power under DIN conditions which are 20DegC/68DegF)

The actual power which the motor was delivering to the engine dyno was 486hp - that is 34hp lost.

The temperature issue is a real and important one and I think everyone should report the temp of their run, as Bill S has done (and ideally weight) since this will make a difference.

Regarding the actual time difference, I guess if your motor runs at the top end of its heat range and you are using fixed boost, then the Motronic will pull the timing quickly and severly during the 80-90DegF runs and you could be losing a lot of hp.
- The 993tt 5.2 Motronic has another "limiter" which will cut the spark if the timing has been pulled to the limit and the boost has been pulled back (non fixed boost) and its still too hot - I just hope this limiter hasn't been programmed out of your software, otherwise there could be a big bang !

I think what is most impressive is how fast this CS shifts! Momentum seem to continue going positive during the shifts..also it seems like it has shorter gearing than the 993s. Have you tried a 3-4-5 only? Might be faster?

TB, these engines are tested in the Arizona desert, I think Todd has taken care of its safety under high temps

Bill,
What were the maximum rpm that you pulled doing this run ? Save me doing the sums on wheel diameter / overall gear ratio.
Thanks,
Geoff

About 7200 RPM on the Ruf, 8500 RPM on the CS. All gearing is stock with OEM tires and wheels.

For the Ruf, 3-4 occurs at 92 MPH and 4-5 occurs at 118 MPH.

I recorded my 930 on video for a 100kmh-200kmh run and it was 7.5sec. That was with a full tank and a passenger. Not too bad for a 25 year old car.
