Well, the time has come to part with my beloved 1997 993TT Black/Black, 26k miles. Im moving to a new residence far enough away that bringing the car isn't that practical. I have had it under my care for some time, but let's see if some one else as passionate about the model will covet her. Stay tuned...dragging my feet to the classifieds section soon.

After about 45 min of driving, no traffic, its pretty much in the high range.

I'm looking for a good mechanic in Los Angeles, any recommendations?

I’m thrilled and the car is everything I had been missing with some of the newer stuff. Not. Selling. Ever.

Beautiful car! Enjoy and don't ever let it go.

That is probably the fan resistor. Common failure at age of these cars. Its a DIY requiring bumper removal.

That's great to hear. I'll do some more research and try to get it sorted out

had a white 96 in 05-08, sold it, regretted it. had a guards red 96 somewhere between 12-17, sold it, really regretted it. just bout a 97, arctic silver, new paint, very well maintained, never selling this one, they are keepers

Went and looked at a 996 the other day. Kind of hated the interior. Didn't drive it. Coming from my 944, everything was very plasticky. I think the 993 is what I want, but I don't like doing maintenance and they are crazy expensive.

Am I screwed?

Not screwed at all. And it is reasonable to want and lust for one of the best turbos they ever produced. Make the purchase when the time is right. Keep saving.

My TT has been incredibly reliable (knock on wood). Can't say the same for a couple of BMWs that I leased (wont ever buy a BMW). Most newer cars are quite "plasticky", but the thing that gets me are all the new nanny aids/alerts - good traction control notwithstanding.

My 996 Turbo wasn't plasticky because it was filled with carbon fiber bits....maybe take a look at better optioned cars.

Or like the man said, keep saving. Took me 9 years to buy my first exotic and 6 to buy the 2nd.

Amen to that. I will keep saving for my 2nd 911, probably a water-cooled one and keeping my 1st 911 (993 C2) forever.

I saw a beautiful silver 993 Turbo S on PGA Blvd (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) this morning on my way to the office. I think that means it had to be a 1997 model? Either way, it reminded me why we all love this brand. I wonder if the owner is on this forum?
