Sooo, since we're basically turning this into a new owner thread

What kind of upgrades are a must? The car I purchased has Bilstein coilovers and I've already decided on LM's. So I'll be doing adjust suspension once the wheels are in...

Any other upgrades that cannot be lived without? Short shift kit possibly?

Is this your car?: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-911-turbo-46/

First thing I would do is have the entire suspension inspected by a real pro. I would replace all the one-time-use lock nuts, caged nuts, etc. and all torque settings should be checked against factory specs. I would replace the caged nuts on the front struts since the installer of that suspension had no clue what they were doing and they reused all the hardware (in addition to installing the front strut mounts backwards, caused damage to the body). I’ve seen those caged nuts fail on the third use, which Porsche recommends replacing each time.

Another item I would do is replace the shift **** with the correct version (metal shift pattern insert). A C2 shift **** was installed, which is not meant to fit a C4, C4S, or Turbo.

Good luck!

Reach out to FD Motorsports and they will help give you list of desirable upgrades such as:

Golden Rod
FD short shift kit
Fister Turbo Mufflers
Transmission, engine mounts etc

Drive the car and make sure it runs right would be the best place to start. Suspension components are known to wear out just based on time alone - example front tie rods, various bushings etc.

Thanks for all the feedback guys

I will be getting the suspension sorted out first, followed by the LM's and then a proper adjustment.

What's the consensus on wheel size? I'm leaning towards keeping the 18" wheel size and having a bit more rubber to work with.

yes definitely stick with 18’s and reverse mounted LMs is a favourite among 993 owners too!

Looks like you have non-turbo widebody wide ovals? Might want to get a set of turbo versions which are shorter. Nice looking car though - congrats!

Well, got the car here, dialed in and made it my own. Truly appreciate all of the feedback, straight talk and advice received since starting this thread.

I’m thrilled and the car is everything I had been missing with some of the newer stuff. Not. Selling. Ever.

Amazing! I'm basically waiting on these wheels. Ordered them about a month ago... won't be here for a few months.

Quick question to the board. I've noticed the oil temp climbing pretty rapidly and getting high after about 35-45 min. I've read up on it a bit and most say it could just be a bad thermostat.

Is that the consensus on the board? Is there a easy way to figure out if its a bigger issue?

When Temps climb on your turbo, you need to drive faster. More ram air. Works for me!

moved a Undertray and use 20 -50 correct oil runs very cool in south Florida
