The 993 Turbo S was an extraordinary car when it came out; today, it is nothing else tan a "classic", a "youngtimer" and a car that collectors love (I think less than 200 were produced).
Despite any "emotional attachment" you may have to it, it is now an "old car", just like the 959 or the Carrera GT.
You buy one if you want it to be part of a collection; but you will not drive it very often, once you have experienced driving the more recent variants.

I respect your point of view.
In my case, having driven the 993 Turbo S on two different Formula 1 circuits in 1997-98, I know I would not be happy to drive it there today; I would prefer driving the 992 Turbo S that I am receiving next week.
But that is my personal preference, ..... not yours!

Market price speaks the truth. 993TT is the ultimate modern classic 911 for weekends at this price point and mine will be a dead man's car. I cannot find another 25 year old car that can keep up with new stuff on Sunday morning runs. All others cars will get rotated out of my driveway.

One of my former colleagues, from the Navy, used to say "It's a sailorman's right to gripe"!

When I bought my 997GT2 new in 2008 the 993 got less and less use and it definitely began to feel old to drive and whilst the engine I had in it was and still is an incredible thing it ended up sitting in my garage. The other aspect which slowly crept up on me was the safety aspect of driving what was essentially a ~50 year old design....this obviously didn't stop me from taking it over 200mph many times back then
I am still using my 997 a lot today, I bought a new 991.2 turbo S in 2017 and just didn't like it, it felt heavy and boring and sold it with less than 1000 miles on the clock. For me the 997 hits the spot for my manual driving experience. For automatics I'm afraid nothing beats a Mclaren they are so far above anything else, alien technology.
For those interested I sold my 993tt to a great passionate enthusiast who has thrown lots and lots of love at the car, if you scroll down his IG there are some great pics of it.

[QUOTE=TB993tt;17212378]It is a very individual thing isn't it ? I drove all over Europe many times in my 993 turbo for 20 odd years and I remember thinking it was great because cruising at 120mph on the autobahn the thing was so alive that you really didn't have to go any quicker to get maximum thrills.

Great thread, considering I just won a BAT auction on a 96 Arena Red Turbo. I told myself it would be the only other Porsche I'd have sit next to my 991.2 Gt3. I'm excited as hell to take delivery of it and finally realize the dream of owning one, after waking up to this poster every morning during my high school years
I look forward to being part of this awesome group.

Congrats. I have a 993TT sharing the same garage as a 991.2 GT3. It's great to have the opportunity to switch between both experiences. I consider my 993TT to be my GT in the original sense of the word (grand tourer), meant to go on a weekend trip with my wife. My GT3 is the machine for unwinding after a long day or a busy week.
