I prefer the 964 targa as well. Actually looking for lead on one if anybody knows I have that posted on the 964 thread. Just getting a lot of hits and leads on 993 S/4S that I will continue to share with everyone here as I have a note as part of my Panamera for sale post that I can entertain possible trade up/down with a 993S/4S.

Keep in mind that the odometer cable on a 993 can be disconnected in about 3 minutes. Don't believe the mileage on any car without cross checking service records, carfax, etc.

Indeed. And at 50 cents a mile for the S cars, there's plenty of incentive.

IIRC, ECUs in the newer 911's keep track of things like total run time, average speed, etc., which could be used as a cross-check for the odo. Not sure if 993's have that feature. Anyone know?

This is a great thread!

Im eyeing a 1997 C4S with 22k miles in Silver / Black interior, seller is asking $100k. Has service history, original paint. This seems to fit right on the line of historical sales from this thread.

One question I had was would you expect the lower mileage examples to attract a premium to this line of best fit? I’m trying to understand what is driving this asking price (not sure about final sales price though). Is it the fact it’s a 98 and a C2S?

@Stoff: Which C2S are you referring? The previous posts on ebay was a '97 C2S and almost 88k miles. As previously posted on this thread, it is prudent to verify the low mileage against service records, vin check and car fax. For reference a similar mileage C2S and '98 will bring in $120s possibly $130. One recently sold here on RL in less than 24 hours, silver/black '98 C2S, similar lower mileage and was listed asking $135k. Cannot confirm sale price.

Confused. Is it a '97 C4S or a '98 C2S?

In general, 2s and '98s are more rare and often more desirable and more expensive than '97s and 4s.

Guessing the '97/4 may be the CO car.

sorry forgot to include the link! But yes it was the one on RL you mentioned above listed for $135k.

So is it the 98 and C2S that you would expect to command the 20-30k premium to a 97 C4S with similar mileage and condition?

yep that’s it - any thoughts on the asking price? Also I forgot to add the link to the 98 C2S, updated my original post.

Stoff: It is both, the fact that it is a C2S and the '98 being the last production year. Also there are fewer C2S delivered than C4S for US Market. See the most approximate production numbers for USA for Porsche 911 993s. This is posted elsewhere on Rennlist too and has been discussed extensively earlier in this thread.

U.S. 993 Sales Numbers (1995-1998)

Carrera 2 Coupe: 6,671
Carrera 2 Cabriolet: 7,634

Carrera 4 Coupe: 891
Carrera 4 Cabriolet: 1,121
Carrera 4S: 2,079

@Gbos1; That is correct. That is part of the reason why you see pricing all over the place on these cars. Regardless of mileage.

Here is another C2S lead from the printed version of Hemmings. No photos. This one is in GA from a private seller enthusiast apparently as has several other Pcars for sale: No affiliation. Seller number is 404-740-3415. Asking $79k.
