Here is one that is right on your trend line. My dad just bought a 96 C2 manual, polar silver, 160k miles, 27k

Congrats, that sounds like an awesome deal (admittedly, anything Polar Silver sounds awesome to me). Where did he find it?

I've been half looking for a 993 for the past couple of months. Haven't found the right combination of car and value yet, but the hunt is the best part for me.

This one came up at my local dealer. Black on black with 47k miles a few good options including LSD. I talked to the sales guy. Pretty limited documented service records. Seems priced at the very top of the market. Thought I'd pass it along.

So right. I'm guessing it will sit until spring and then sell in the mid $50k's.

That's strong money for a 115K mile non-vram car. Good sign for the market.

I'm still researching, but are 95's more desirable or less? I see differing opinions - no OBDII, no vario problems, immobilizer etc. I'd think newer is always better - more horsepower for one.

I would argue that the '95 is less desirable. A tiny bit, at least to me. No vram and has the awkward looking towel rack third brake light. Yes, the OBDII will trip the SAI CEL, but that's because the valve guides are worn. They're just as worn on a '95, you just don't get a light telling you about it.

I would say the '95 is a bit more desirable. Unless you are able to get an end-of-the-run '98, which are probably the most desirable. At least comparing apples to apples for a regular C2. Not talking about a C2S or C4S.
The '95 is a bit lighter, a little less horsepower, OBD I, no immobilizer. I for one love the basket handle. But it is all a matter of taste and preference.

There are lost of threads on Rennlist over the years where people debated which production year is the best...

I would agree with most of this. I strongly prefer the v-ram engine. The SAI is not necessarily due to valve guides. There have been plenty of cars that need an SAI cleaning and the valve guides are still OK.

I think a 97 or 98 with an ECU tune to remove the immobilizer and SAI fault check, is the best of all worlds.
