I'm inclined to believe that originally, over tightening the door pocket caused stress in bending the plastic which eventually cracked. I used a set on my '88 (& '96) and, when snugged down there was clearance remaining between the original plastic/reinforcement and the mating surface of the door latch. I did not tighten any further or bending would result.

Arrived on the 5th of July and we have been busy looking for a house and with crazy work schedules etc. My car is being picked up from NC on Monday and I will have it here on the 4th.
