Yesterday with mid 70's in middle Oct in NH, decided to drive around Lake Winnipesaukee and check out the leaves. Weather guys had it at 70-80% color, thinking they were optimistic. Maybe in a week it will be better color.
Last friday. Managed to finish up the install of the MPL slave as well as the rebuild pedal cluster. Clutch feels like a modern car now. Extremely happy with the setup.
On our mountain trip yesterday, the OBC went out. I read the various posts on its repair and decided to try. First, I could not get it out without removing the steering wheel, even though some say they did it that way. I ended up removing the wheel and loosening the surround bezel and got it out. I took the two screws on the back of the case out, loosened the factory label and gently pulled the back cover Showing bulb out of board. It removes by 1/4 turn left and then 1/4 turn right on new bulb to reinstall. Fixed!
off the case, exposing the circuit boards. Since the OBC quit suddenly I thought maybe it was just the light bulb, so I removed it. I had a spare from another project and installed it, easy. Reassembled and hooked it up to test it, and it worked again. Attached are 2 photos, one showing the location of the OBC bulb (see yellow arrow). I went into this thinking maybe the circuit board was bad, but got lucky!
Just wanted you to have the correct info- that’s your power steering pressure line, not engine oil if that was what you were thinking.

What line is this? I believe it's the oil return but wanted to verify with someone before looking into replacing it. My car started sweating oil from the crimp on the line.
Upgraded my (new to me) ‘95 cab’s headlights with the Bergville FX Hi/Lo beam combo. A previous owner had apparently attempted an LED headlight project pre-2014. One of those had failed at some point, and a subsequent owner just went back to stock halogens on the failed side and didn’t care about the mismatch… perhaps they didn’t drive at night much.
Anyway, Bergville mod installed and looks great, highly recommend!
Halogen passenger side, 6000k Bergville combo on driver. Yep, need to fix the hood struts… yoga mat in a pinch
In the process, discovered some mystery wiring that I’ll need to diagnose/eliminate. Anyone care to chime in on what this stuff is/what they were thinking?
Um… WTF? Not connected to anything Does the wiring look correct here? Driver side
Hood struts, pax seat switch/motor, airbag light, cab top light, and eventually some sort of ROW height to come…
you've got some non-factory wiring there. the black one running under the big round grommet, the pink magenta wire on the ground post, and the big black wire running horizontally across the bottom of the pic that is stamped MADE IN THE USA (bit of a giveaway on a German car)

Yep, looks like they had some sort of CD player and associated sound system stuff installed. Maybe even some ancient aftermarket fog lights. The immediate previous owner had an aftermarket head unit installed that isn’t at all connected to this garbage.
After a spirited drive and sometimes when it’s cold the idle would act erratic for a second before returning to normal so I pulled the isv for investigation to find a bunch of carbon build up
I also noticed the flap inside would not rotate freely when rolled vigorously left to right
after cleaning it looked and sounded better
taking It for a drive in the morning hopefully I fixed it
Would a suction cup on the dash distort the skin of the dash after a while?
I wanted to do same but I ended up getting on the windshield just in case.
I can confirm it will. When shopping I had looked at a non-leather dash car with 60K that has a suction cup on it for about 2.5 years the owner said (I asked because I saw aftermarket wiring). He didn't tell me where, but if you looked very closely in full sunlight, you could see the spot under the center of where the suction cup would have been was just ever so slightly lifted up giving it a very slight bubble effect about the diameter of a quarter but a fraction of a mm in height. If I hadn't known to be looking and not in full sunlight, I never would have noticed. I pointed it out and he acted surprised seeing it confirming that's where it was. It was on the upper portion, just like the pic you are commenting on, but more towards the gauges and a little in front of the defroster vents.
