Exclamation Brake Caliper Restoration Refinishing Paint repair

Many people have called us recently and have asked if we only paint calipers red, no we also refinish black, red, yellow, diamond finishing etc.

We are certainly open to your request!

Have a great weekend....

What do you charge to refinish calipers? I'm referring to total disassembly with new boots, seals etc.

It would be good to explain what exactly you do when a set of calipers is shipped for refinishing - for instance do you rebuild the calipers, or just paint them? Do you strip the calipers down to the bare metal, or finish on top of the existing paint? What paint do you use, and how temperature resistant is it? Is the Porsche logo a stencil or a stick on? What about the existing bright work, is it replated or just cleaned?

Anyways, you get the drift - if you have a good process, brag about it!

Cheers,

Mike

Nice photography, but it appears as if you paint or powdercoat the entire caliper, hardware and all. The pad plates and retaining springs on 993 calipers are stainless steel and are not meant to be painted over for numerous reasons.

Well, the OP posted Friday night, so perhaps he does not work weekends? I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, at least for a few more days into the workweek.

There are rebuild threads in the GT3 forum so one can understand the work involved if you don't want to DIY.

Thanks guys for your feedback, we are only open Monday through Friday and you know how Monday mornings can be... West Coast time also...

Anyhow, here are some answers to your questions.

Calipers are stripped down to the core, painted, decal applied, clear coated and hard-bake finished. We use high-temp tape to mask off the mounting points where the calipers are mounted and we also mask off the dust-boots and pistons. If you need other items such as side plates (common on the 993) calipers kept clear we can do at your request (WE DO NOT REMOVE THOSE PLATES NOR DO WE REMOVE CORROSIVE ITEMS FROM UNDER THOSE PLATES, get that done if necessary before shipping them to us)
  • The cost on standard colors and finishing is $150 ea.
  • The standard turn-around time is 7-10 days
  • The average return shipping cost is $50-60 per set depending on location
  • We are located in Southern California

I've attached an other photo....

We forgot to mention in our last post,

WE DO NOT rebuild calipers, only refinish them.

We recommend rebuilding them prior to shipping them to us, this way the person who rebuilds them doesn't have to worry about the way he handles them during his job.

Thank you all for your comments,
