Can someone confirm for me...

The light in a Turbo S scoop is a "running" light, not a foglight? I always presumed it was fog but I believe a few posts in this thread indicate otherwise. My car came with Turbo S scoops installed and I always wondered why the "foglight" was "always on" and the foglight switch had no effect. If that is the case, did the Turbo's not have a front foglight switch on the dash?

Also, on a related note, are there any threads that detail installing ducting to the scoops and how it is finished on the fender liner?

Thanks.

There is a mod where you jump the corresponding relay in the front fusebox. Look and see if the relay has been modified or removed and replaced with a fused cable that forces the foglight on all the time like a DRL. Relay R32 I think.

Mine....

Thanks, I will take a look.

So are you saying that the light on the Turbo S scoops is indeed intended to be a foglight, controlled by the switch on the dash? I thought I read somewhere in this thread or other threads that when you ditch the standard fog/running light and swap to the Turbo scoops that you lose your foglight and are left only with a running light.

I don't think that is true. There are 2 lights (fog & running light) within the original fog assembly. You can hook the new lights up to either the fog light harness or the running light. So, you loose one or the other.

Understood that you can pick either harness and that if you attach to the factory fog lamp harness, the light can then be controlled by the fog light switch on the dash.

That said, on a stock turbo, is the light controlled via the fog light switch or is it a running light? The bulb housing pictured above seems like simply a "running" light. Does not appear to be designed as a fog lamp housing. There is no domed reflector inside the housing to project the light out sufficiently onto the roadway. It's just a piece of black plastic with a bulb slapped in there. The light would diffuse vs project out via a "beam".

Nevermind. Google provided better search results. The stock turbo S scoops contain a running light. There are mods which detail removing the housing and replacing with a fog light projector.

For those that ordered the aftermarket version from Type 911 in the UK, are you happy with the quality? I understand the aftermarket version is plastic? Is the OEM aluminum? Prices on OEM have gone up to $550 at Sunset while the aftermarkets w/ lights are substantially cheaper at 100 GBP plus VAT & shipping.

They are plastic, pretty solid though. I think they are fine. Not sure what the oem ones are made of.
