18, my dad got a Boxster S when I turned 16, I got a 951 at 17, and have now added a 993 at 18. Don't think I'll ever get another marque.

Damn! You beat me. I got my 993 at 19 and thought I'd still be the youngest at 20.

"I don't know where the law of averages comes in on this, but I really don't see where the average Porsche or 911 owner is a 50-something year old male"

HEY, I resemble that remark, 51 now going on 19. After numerous other sports cars since age 19 I 'invested' in my 1st p-car, a 964 at 42.
Give it time whippersnappers. You will be the 'average' 911 owner eventually (I hope).
Keep the faith alive brethren. Its up to us to make these the next 356 collectibles.

adscab911,

Insurance isn't too bad since the Porsche's are cars three, four, and five, for three drivers. Also I'm not "officially" the primary driver of any of them since I'm at school for 9 months out of the year and they stay at home. If I brought one to school it would be $1600 more per year. That's with a perfect driving record and the good grade discount.

Just so you don't think the age hammer will, by default, keep you from driving your Porsche car, fast, at a mature age, I just spoke to Pete McCarrol. He drives a 911 Turbo race car, club racer. He turns 1:25s at Willow Springs. Pete is 77 years old.

A 1:25 at Willow Springs is very fast. Blake Rosser in a 996 GT3 RS car turns a 1:20, shooting for a 1:18. He is now the fastest gun in the West at the POC Red Run Group Cup Races.

I'm the big 30. Got my car as a 28th b-day present for myself. Haven't wanted anything since.

Mike in Chi - very nice of you. BTW, I'd be happy to share shooting duties with Pin.

DanO - no flames intended, but it sounds like those Porsches really belong to your parents....

I'm also 30 Arthur. I think it's a great age to own my first Porsche. Although I heard the term "mid-life crisis" a number of times from friends and family when I was Porsche shopping. None of my friends my age drive Porsches either. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
