"By the time we approach 50, and I am getting very close, we give up silly cars like the Porsche and move to more mundane vehicles. I sold my TT last year and replaced it with a low HP convertable for sunday drives." -- Radical Racer
Silly cars??
@ 50 1986 911
@ 53 1985 Turbolook
@ 58 1997 Carrera S
I beat all the young Porsche drivers at the autocross on Sunday.
The first sports car I ever rode in was a buddy's '56 Speedster in college. You could see the snow going by through the holes in the floor. Towed my MG Midget when I moved to California from Connecticut in 1966. Drove a 1960 Morris Mini with a 1275 to work for years. Finally got into Porsches in 1993. Sure glad I did. Great group of people - we have made a lot of friends in the Porsche community.
Remember the motto;
"Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill!"

Me and my Porsche will turn 50 within a couple of months. I'll be 50 yrs. young and the P-car w/have 50K miles. Hopefully, and pretty likely, it will turn 50K on the track.
Unlike me, the car keeps looking better with age!

38, pulled the trigger on the 993 at 36. Came close to a high mileage SC at 32 but didn't have the bottle (checkbook?) or knowledge to buy wise.
Time for a confession: at 16 I actually prefered the smooth curves of the 928 over the then SC with the rubber bumpers. Something to do with a poster of an early S model over the door of the local newsagent. Didn't see many P-cars in the flesh in our neck of the woods those days. Driving 911's (3.2, 964 and 993) and a trio of 928 S4's during the "hunt" sealed the choice though. There really is no substitute....

Just turned 38 and got the 993 at 36. I bought my 3.2 Sport when I was 29.
Cheers,
David

Hi Surj, I hate to admit that at the tender age of 17 I had a Capri 2.0S followed by a 1275GT and an XR2! Things then got a lot better with a 325i.
Cheers,
David
