I have just started looking seriously for a non-turbo 993 coupe. My initial thought was to look for a well sorted narrow body C2 -- specifically a 1995 model to avoid the immobilizer and SAI issues that seem to exist with the later cars. But part of me is wondering if I should increase the budget and look for a C2S /C4S instead.
I'd like to know what people's thoughts are: given today's market, is the narrow body or the wide body a better buy? Does the C2S/C4S justify a $12-15K premium over a narrow body? Is the driving experience dramatically different between the two? Has anybody bought a narrow body and regretted it (or vice versa)?
Have depreciation and demand brought 993 at the point where I would be taking minimal to no loss if I bought a C2 (for example) and sold it later to upgrade to a C2S?

I like my C2S, didn't necessarily want a widebody car when I set out but when it had all the stuff that I was looking for option-wise.
I'm not so keen on the turbos to be honest...another perfect example of differing opinions.

I often think about trading up from my 993 C4S to a 993TT, but a few things keep me from doing so:
* I don't like the big whale tail wing on the back; to me it looks like an afterthought toupee on an otherwise amazing shape
* In a congested city where I live, I'll rarely, if ever, be able to experience the limits of the car and keep my license. My C4S has a enough power to keep me satisfied, and I can wring almost all of it out without ending up in jail.
To the OP question, I'd say buy the widebody, because prices have hit bottom and may be going up. You won't lose money on these cars, and the more you spend, the higher return you may expect on the most desirable models, which are the S cars and the Turbo.
Ether way, you cannot go wrong. All 993s are fantastic. Enjoy the hunt and be patient.

I wanted a C4S or C2S when I was looking three years ago, but couldn't justify the price premium. I ended up purchasing a NB and used the extra money for upgrades and a turbo bumper. I am still happy with my decision.

All versions are a great buy, the choice is really cosmetic and options on the car. If you can afford the premium for a WB then get it imo, basically buy the best you can afford.
Your correct the premium for a WB is about $10-12K, tag on a bit more due to the demand for C2Ss nowadays, then you can easily add the same premium and more for a Turbo.
The AWD vs. RWD does feel different, you can notice it immediately in the steering feel/inputs. However, generally I have seen C4S to have the most options vs C2/C2S.
To me the TT spoiler looks great, not a fan of the TTS spoiler. Then again I'm ok with no spoiler too, the lines on the 993 are just great overall.
And no way you'll get an intercooler to fit under a ducktail, either way this spoiler is perfect on NBs.
